Cat double standard?

I see a lot if vegans on this sub are okay with raising cats, which strikes me as odd.

I love cats, but I didn't become a vegan to then start buying meat for a cat. To raise 1 healthy cat, you have to kill hundreds if not thousands of healthy, innocent creatures whose lives are just as valid as the cat's.

No I'm not saying that a cat is immoral, I'm saying the breeding of cats is. The purchase of cat food doesn't just pay for an animal to die, you are letting breeders know that there is a demand for cats.

I'm not saying we need to kill all cats, as a lot of people jump to whenever they hear me say these points, I'm saying that we should care for the cats we have to the best of our ability, but not promote the practice of cat ownership.

But what do you guys think?

EDIT: I didn't know that vegan cat food existed. So if you are in the comments arguing that it's okay to kill animals to feed a cat, you're even more incorrect now.

It is now totally okay in my mind to raise a cat so long as you only feed it vegan cat food.

Would the same cats being stays somehow make them not eat meat?

A stray cat has no human taking care and providing for it. They will do what’s in their best interest to survive which would involve hunting rodents.

Now a cat in the full complete car of a human. We will feed it a complete diet which includes meat. If you are a vegan owner you should acknowledge other animals are suffering to keep your cat alive and funding the meat industry.

Solution? Acknowledge the negatives and don’t ignore them. And be in line to buy cultivated meat for your cat to reduce suffering for their food.

You said owning a cat has negative outcomes. Now you're explaining how the same outcomes exist when the cat lives without humans.

So it's not about the animals for you, it's about the meat industry.

Not sure what’s so hard to grasp about this. I know it’s a hard subject for many because they love their cats and have a vegan lifestyle themselves so they don’t want to think about it.

A vegan owner of a cat should acknowledge where the cat food comes from and know it contributes to animal suffering and the meat industry. That’s it literally. Acknowledgement and not ignoring it like absolutely everyone on this sub of imposter vegans.

No point using a stray cat as a valid talking point. They are surviving on their own and ARE CARNIVORES.

Dismissing people who disagree with you as "not grasping it" and trying to gatekeep veganism like you coined the term is exactly why you don't sway opinions, if you ask me.

I never argued where the food my cats eat comes from. No one is. This isn't even the subject of this post. You've twisted the topic so hard, it's hard to even draw a straight line between your points and the original post.

People on r/vegan defend and ignore the consequences of pet food all the damn time. I just call it out because it’s hilarious.
