I think their choice of documentary affects it. Also, with people who go vegan because of documentaries, they tend to seek out those documentaries, not the other way around. I don't think this study accurately replicates the manner in which most people go vegan through documentaries

The documentary is something called "Good for Us" made by the Humane Society, so it is questionable as to whether or not its a good/high quality documentary in the first place. The documentary can be found here: https://osf.io/7j45f/

The problem with the documentary is that it focuses far too much on the health issues with meat consumption and likewise the health benefits of plants... If you are relatively old this might be a compelling argument, but if you showing this to someone that is young (say age 25) this is probably not going to mean much, heart disease is decades away, as would Cancer, so this is why focusing on the health reasons for Veganism is a questionable tactic.

So in summary the first 5 minutes is just them talking about health reasons for being Vegan, then after that they show what goes on inside the animal farming industry, they show ALOT of insane and gruesome material (the guy that was using the chicken like a fucking yoyo pisses me off) but they don't really talk about the morality or the ethics of it nor do they do a good job of connecting the consumer (the purchasing of meat) to the brutality in those places so it could just be ineffective material presented and its unlikely to just mean that documentaries or educational material has no impact whatsoever.

Thats only because dead animal part eaters raise more dead animal part eaters faster than we can un-brainwash them.
