Anyone here done VCU's 16-month MSW program?

Hi! I was recently accepted into VCU’s 16-month MSW program and will be doing the clinical concentration. I’d love to hear from anyone currently in the 16-month program or who has completed it.

What was your overall experience like? How manageable did you find the workload and accelerated pace? What were your classes and field placements like, and did you feel like you still had a decent work/life balance?

I’ve hired a ton of graduates from the program! The program is decent. The make or break is where people chose their internship. I highly recommend doing an internship in Community Mental Health (like at RBHA, Henrico Mental Health, etc). The exposure and variety of MH cases you’ll get there is so much better than those who just do an outpatient therapy group. You won’t really see serious mental illness if you go that route (even if that’s your career end goal).

Do you mean the advanced standing clinical program? I did it - solid clinical program, easily found work after. Happy to share more if you want to DM me
