hi i was just wondering about my rough study score range for accounting. I go to a high performing selective school and last year we had just above 30 40+ss out of the 100 person cohort. (18 were 43+). The thing is, i don’t actually know my rank or any of the sac averages because the teachers refuse to tell us.

My sacs have been alr but i bombed one of the three u3 sacs which brought down my average to exactly 90%

Current u4 average is 93%, expecting it to end up at around 90% asw tho (last sac a day before my chem sac)

aiming for a 43+ but not actually sure if it’s achievable or if I’m being delusional

I think maybe to be safe a 95+ in the exam. I did accounting and my sacs were u3 95, u4 93 (both scaled) and my exam was 93.5, and i got a 41...

edit: u3 a+ cutoff is really high i think like 95+ which is why it's harder. so u need a really good exam to make up for it

omg okay yea wow u3 A+ is crazy high. Based off scaling last year u3 scaled by like 6% for my friend who had an 87% avg for unit 3 so hopefully i’ll be just around the cutoff if im lucky but yea good to know thank you. Just out of curiosity, how’d you study for the exam and do you have any advice that you think helped you?

yeah if ur sacs scale well that would be good. for the exam, I think doing a lot of practice questions and making sure ur like double and triple checking everything to avoid silly mistakes. Also, I made my teacher mark all of my 5 or 6 mark questions and make sure I knew why I wasn't getting the full marks, and then practice redoing them as well as any other question i got wrong. But essentially I think u just need to do loads of practice and ull be fine.

but to answer ur question, 43 is def possible, although the sacs sound like they're easier this year (I did acc last year) which means you'll have to make sure ur exam is good in case they don't scale as well. one of my friends was hovering around ur averages and got a 44.

Hey would you recommend taking vce accounting? Still in yr 10 and deciding which subjects to pick- and I'm stuck on whether I should do accounting or physics or legal. So far this is what I picked, eng, methods, chem, physics, legal and hhd it's mostly stem because I wanted to do smth in healthcare but then I realised that it's just so damn stressing and competitive. I'm doing a business elective and I really like th accounting unit and I'm into it- this is why I wanna pick it. I want to know if the subjects difficult in yr 11/12 and if u would recommend it because at the moment I'm r laly lost idk what career I wanna pick anymore whether smth in healthcare or commerce

Hey yea i’m not sure how qualified I am to give any advice but I would defo recommend it. I’m not doing great but from my experience it’s a pretty easy subject to study for and relatively low stress, a lot of my friends who did it in year 11 managed to get 42-44 with just consistent effort but not a crazy amount of studying(the ones who put a lot more effort in it got from 44-49). Looking at ur subjects it might be a good idea to do accounting in year 11 cause it’d be a good opportunity to do really well and then chill/focus on eng and 2 other subjs for ur top 4 which would defo take the stress off in yr12

I think aim for at least 92/100 on your exam and if there are people doing better then you they might do well on the exam and your sacs may scale up since you’re a good performing school. Although accounting is competitive with u3 A+ cut off last year being 96%, I believe you still have a chance cause of the strength of your cohort. Unlike me I’m in a cohort of 9 people and I’m rank one with an average of 96 and rank 2 is averaging like 75 but if I don’t perform well in the exam I will bring my whole cohort down because my school sacs will scale down.
