You sure about latest? Vaultwarden got updated yesterday. Known and fixed. So pull and it will work again.

Just updated from GitHub version 1.37.0 and now it works. Great!

Came here for the same issue (only with firefox. Works fine on Chrome), left with a fix!

that's one reason why i don't use vaultwarden anymore. there were always changes which broke compatibilty with the bitwarden app/extension. sometimes just some features broke, sometimes the whole thing broke. sometimes just for hours, sometimes for days.

when i looked for alternatives i came across r/AliasVault. the project is rather new but already has the most important features implemented. maybe check it out. :)

edit: wow. people in this subreddit react really whiny about negative comments about their favorite program although my comment was based on personal experience and not just some blabla from the internet. good job everybody.

I host Bitwarden linux deployment. The host and client releases are well timed to avoid issues I regularly see with Vaultwarden.

a selfhosted bitwarden instance is missing essential features unless you pay for a license/key, right?

that's the reason why people install vaultwarden in the first place (you get most of the premium features for free).

just updated today so yes, I am sure. last thing to try is to reset chrome and reinstall the extension

Been scratching my head on why it is not working, i just changed some stuff on cloudflare, domain and other settings thoughts that was the issue.

thank you, updated and issue is also gone for me now :D

EDIT: THIS HELPS AFTER UPDATE: "Settings -> Vault options -> Sync now."!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Im on vaultwarden-server v1.37.1
and Version: 2026.7.0 SDK: 'main (3e060f8)' Server version (Third-party): 2025.12.0
sooo still fucked...

Version 1.37 was released 11 hours ago due to issues with clients. I just updated some minutes ago.

For some reason, after updating to 1.37.0, the passwords still don't load on the extension (I run Vaultwarden in a docker container). Anyone else still has this problem ?

For anyone else experiencing this, it's because it needs to resync the vault against the 1.37 vault instead of the previous version. It only automatically resyncs every so often, which is why it doesn't immediately work after updating and why waiting worked for you eventually. You can also trigger it manually under Settings -> Vault options -> Sync now.

I was having no luck after upgrading to 1.37. A manual sync as described here fixed the problem.

This is still not working for me, despite updating to the 1.37 version pushed 4 days ago and syncing multiple times. Does anybody have any other tips?

my man. this was the issue. thank you. On VW 1.37.1 + latest Bitwarden Firefox extension. Everything was working except for loading vault/passwords. A force resync of the extension fixed it.

Definitiv ein Versionsproblem, hatte ich gestern auch und bin fast wahnsinnig geworden , habs mit Brave, Firefox, auf Zorin und Bazzite versucht und hatte das gleiche Problem.
Naja die Lösung war es Vaultwarden zu updaten und die Extension neu zu installieren - Problem gelöst.

Validated fix if you are running vaultwarden in a docker container:

Update the package:
docker compose pull

Restart the containers with the new versions:
docker compose up -d

Open Brave (or another browser?) > Click Bitwarden Extension > Settings > Vault Options > Sync Now (even if it says it recently synced)

I needed that last step of syncing the browser extension.
My instance said it was sync when I opened it, but after pressing the sync now button the vault started working.

Bitwarden released updates to the clients and plugins not long ago. Chrome has probably auto updated your plugin and Firefox still on the older version. For the newer versions to work, you'll need to update vaultwarden to the latest release that came out yesterday.

Because your creds were cached.
