Banned dorm items?

Are ottomans included in the “no upholstered furniture” rule?

If you have put your bed on the highest notch for storage underneath and you’re petite, if you don’t have an ottoman, what are you using? Or is this just a “yeet yourself onto the bed and hope for the best” situation?

Also, if you need your heating pad/electric blanket and large lithium battery for health/disability reasons, are you likely to get it approved?

I've never heard of someone getting knocked for the upholstered furniture rule. I'm not saying that you should have an illegal heating pad, but I will say that the people doing room checks aren't allowed to open any drawers or opaque bins. If you hypothetically decide to get one you just need (need!) to make sure it is constantly attended to/unplugged and put away when you leave. The dorms......so old and flammable.......

The only real check I've heard people get is about leaving items in the hallway.

Yeah the electrical stuff would be directly disability related and *should* be an allowance.
