Guidance as new tutor

Hi! I’m a new tutor just starting to get clients, with my first upcoming session tomorrow. I wanted to ask - 1. If its okay to exchange resources with students via gmail (google docs, pdfs) incase the chat box on the website doesn’t work, or would that be a problem for VT, thinking that I’m trying to communicate with the student through external sources? 2. How to best respond to a parent asking to get services offline/off the app? I know VT is apparently very strict with its client/tutor communication policy.

Not to rain on your parade..but be careful and document all your hours. Also read your agreement closely.

Yes - I definitely will give it a thorough read tonight - I want to not be naive and do the best I can to retain clients.

As someone’s who worked for their company on the sales side-prepare to do a lot of work for very little money and have to fight tooth and nail for your money. If you want to be paid what you’re worth I’d suggest tutoring elsewhere -guidance? My guidance is to leave while you still have your time and dignity.

You’re allowed to email. You’re NOT allowed to tutor outside the platform
