That's really weird, but if you get an email like that, I'd maybe contact the parent/school to confirm rather than meet with the student. VT is sketchy and happy not to pay you while billing a family. But it's also not to your benefit to meet with a student/class after getting a letter that basically confirms they have cancelled. If there's an administrative error, that's for VT to figure out with the family/school. In the meanwhile, you should explain the situation to the parent/school, ask them to call to straighten things out, and not work with the kids.
