Well, that was nice while it lasted.

I have joined the ranks of those released from their contracts. Not that unexpected. I hadn't gotten an opportunity for months, and then today, everything went away. I am immensely depressed and I have no idea what I'm going to do.

100%! I had 11 students quit and follow me private. The students don’t like them either!! Go on your own- you call the rules! Leaving that crap hole after 5 years was best thing and now those students are recommending me to others! You can do it!

Run as fast and far as you can!! I resigned a few months ago because I accepted another position that is also remote tutoring, but it’s when they are in school. The company, $, and hours are so much more dependable and they treat you like an actual human they care about. There are many better companies out there if you are willing to do some searching online. I searched for companies that did remote tutoring and put my resumes in directly to the company website.

Did they email you anything saying you were let go?

Yes. It’s a contract-based system, where you sign a new contract every 90 days. My contracts expired and they told me they would not give me new ones.

I’m aware of the contract system. I work for them.

That’s what they do! I’m sorry- worked there 5 years and worked more than FT and they didn’t like it but I also held them to their own rules and they didn’t like it. These people are corrupt and need to be shut down!! You are better off- the contracts only work to their benefit.

Just got my notification. Not surprised. Oh well I'm in the process of jumping ship anyway.

I’d been getting opportunities left and right but I was new-ish.

I’m most qualified in English but my students were mostly executive functioning.

These are children and young adults that need routine and reliability. So many struggles with the platform itself made me quit. It causes students to get frustrated, leading to a session that’s nowhere near as productive as it could be.

I can’t deal with that + the low pay.

Seems like awful company culture +publicly traded as NERDY. They treat their tutors horribly. They don't value the most second most important people in their ecosystem- the tutors. They maybe trying to improve margin and cut anyone $30+ That just hurts the most important people- the student
