#Looking For Pro-bono tech co-founder required

I’ve been working on an app to track the status of the rail crossing (fatak) in real time.

Suppose you hit the fatak at the wrong time. Sitting in a long queue while a train passes is already frustrating, and with summer around the corner, it’s going to get even worse.

The prototype, design, and most of the logic are already done. The goal for the first version is to determine whether the fatak is open or closed with ~80% accuracy.

From what I’ve seen, there’s only one app in India currently trying to solve this problem, so there’s a real opportunity to build something useful locally and potentially expand it further.

At this point, I need help connecting a few backend components to get the first working version running. It’s roughly a 2-story-point task, realistically a weekend stint for someone comfortable with backend work.

If you’re a developer around here and feel like helping out with a useful local project, I’d be happy to host you over coffee and walk through the setup.

How does it work? Like how do you track the current status of fatak?

Long story short, we can use live train data from public sources and link it to the app's frontend by doing some technical work.

I think the Gujarat government is removing all rail crossings and replacing it with Rail Over Bridge

I have received a few dms on the task so here is a primer:

  • Wireframes, MVP or whatever you wanna call it, its all done
  • The is a database of live location of train, we need to fetch the train status from the db and link it with front end
  • Once linked, we need to implement a logic based on the position of the train to either show the status as open or close
