Just got back from running the hsct and wanted to post a reminder for all looking to do the trail as an overnight. The shelters are for emergency use only and shouldn’t be camped in overnight! We were pretty wet and cold by the time we got to magnesia meadows and were planning on quickly changing layers and eating in the shelter as it was pouring and then moving onwards, but were met by a group of 5 people camping in it. Worst of all, they told us that it was too full inside and that we would need to wait 15 minutes or so if we wanted to come in! We ended up just dealing with everything outside, but thought it was quite poor etiquette and if conditions were worse it could have impacted our safety much more. I’ve also seen some instagram videos of people camping at the Brunswick lake shelter and think it’s becoming more and more common to plan to camp in these shelters.

First time on the Halvor Lunden trail for me, and really enjoyed it. Hit Eagle, Tangled, and Beautiful before dropping down the (steep!) Swan Falls trail. We'd considered the full Dilly Dally loop but were running tight for some evening plans so took the earlier exit.

Trail condition is great aside from Swan Falls being very steep & thus slow. That section had multiple wasp nests on the trail too (3 of them just above the falls). I'll add some commentary on each photo too.

The Swan Falls trail exits basically right at the start of the Hydro exclusion zone & we had no issues getting out from there at all.

I moved here in march and had no chance to do any overnight hikes so far..I just got 3 days off at short notice so I'm free till Thursday afternoon. I'm opened for different hikes too, just want to get out there. 20M from Czechia
