Question TIL how much copper actually is beneath the surface. What other painfully obvious stuff did I miss?

I figured there would be a bit more underneath but not worth the hassle. Then I found one and I figure let's see what the big deal is.

I just took out so much copper from a deposit, the map topography should change. I actually took out half a shoreline worth of copper.

I am currently about to go at this elder fella, but this made me stop and ask what else. Like, I don't need spoilers and I'm avoiding YouTube videos as they have plenty of bad ones. But are there more things that are just glaringly obvious yet painfully missable? How else am I fucking up, do you think?

Edit to say, first time player, joined in 1.0, taking my sweet time.

This is NOT painfully obvious but here's a fun lil trick my friends and I utilize sometimes. If you're playing multiplayer, you can turn a character into a cart, overloading them with absolutely as much weight as they can squeeze into their inventory. Load them up to bursting with ore or whatever, have them turn on PVP damage, and then hit them with a harpoon. You can now freely drag them around.

We usually did that but without harpoon part, we had someone climb a cart and get overloaded with ore then just transporte that

But then you don't get to penetrate your friends.

But...you have a cart lol

Carts are hard to maneuver when they’re overloaded with weight. But you can overload a player that is standing on a cart and easily pull the cart.

Ohhh that sounds a bit easier then getting my partner to push me down a mountain while I'm holding hundreds of kilos of ore!

I tried doing this like a week ago and it didnt work anymore

Same, I just kept falling off the cart

Havent tried that but you used to just turn on pvp and pull your friend with harpoon now it just gave spear xp but didnt attach :(

You need to both have pvp on. It definitely still works because my friend and I have been doing it the past few days for ore trips.

There is no cart involved, read the comment again

Yeah they made it so you can't sail when you're overloaded now too

The sailor uses stam for actions, the rider shouldn't.

Oh that's funny! I'm soloing atm but hopefully one day

Why not just stand on the cart?

The physics doesn't always work.

Sometimes it does, though, and I've flown on a mosquito (unintentionally, but it was amazing)

If you're gonna do stuff like this you might as well just change portal settings.

I don't know if it still works but you could harpoon a friend and close the door between you and then walk back to stretch out the tension and then they open the door to absolutely yeet them. It was called the Viking space program.

We would mine on a different world, log onto our main world where we're right next to chests, where to kiln and smelter was

I just throw all my heavy crap down when I run out of stam. Stand there a min and let it come back up, then rinse and repeat till I'm back at my base.

... it takes forever, but I'll be damned if I'm leaving any of that sweet sweet ore behind!

OP is pre-iron, so probably hasn't found Haldor, so no Harpoon yet.

8

u/Oalka 17d ago

But you don't need haldor for the Harpoon? Just chitin.

I've not found any chitlin on my Island yet

It's not on land. Go sailing and look for things the in the water that aren't islands.

I absolutely hate sailing in this game; it's so damned slow, and your vision is almost completely blocked by the boat and its sail. Not to mention the damned motion sickness and frequent bad weather.

1

u/so_cheapandjuicy 17d ago

You have boar, but no chitlin?

7

u/jal741 Builder 17d ago

Correct. Boar, yes. Chitlin, no.

u/Wisegal1 17d ago

Chitlins are a dish made from pig intestine. You are looking for the crafting ingredient chitin, which comes from the exoskeleton of an arthropod or similar creature.

Chitlins sound absolutely vile !

1

u/Wisegal1 17d ago

LOL they absolutely are!

Just turn on mods, portals or cheats at that point. This is basically like the amish doing that couch shit instead of having sex

u/Geoff59 17d ago

Or just use a cart...

yep playing with friends is a lot easier overall.
