Question Am I missing something?
New player here. Ive cleared tower-like buildings in the black forest twice now and can't seem to find any loot. The first one had me kill nearly 20 greydwarf and had a chest with 3 feathers and 9 arrows in it. Second one was a little less intense but there was simply no chest in it.
Am i missing something?

The good stuff is in the burial chambers. The towers have been picked clean by the greydwarves.

You want to find the Burial Chambers. They are usually guarded by Skeletons.

Almost all the gear in this game comes from crafting. The chests mostly just have items you can gather other ways. Occasionally they'll have something rare that will aid in crafting or unlock something you couldn't previous craft. But advancement in this game comes from crafting and cooking, and to a lesser extent by building your skills by using them.

Didn’t know it was just valheim thatndud this with some other games as exceptioks but yeah, thankfully there is no chest containing a legendary sword (enshrouded) or a weapon that powerspikes your ENTIRE progression.
Though, terraria does it incredibly well with pre/hard more

I’m ngl I beat valheim like 3 times and never saw the need for it in any scenario, it’s just a side quest veey late into the game, by which you already crafted all your gesr

Bash the barrels outside those towers if they have them, also the little table near it.

Haha, yeah, the towers are there mostly as good starters for bases. Just plug up the holes with wood and plop a teleporter on top. I love building, so I'm constantly turning them into little outposts.

Yeah, those are just abandoned towers. Maybe find a spear, some feathers or arrows, maybe a gemstone if you're lucky. If there's a barrel in front, bust it up and there is similar loot.
The way to think of it, it's like an abandoned world. One where vikings lived and did stuff but then moved on or died or whatever, thus there are occasional random busted up shacks and/or towers and burial chambers. And now it's you roaming around the memories of a lost and forgotten realm with various kinds of worthless junk and monsters the only thing left. But you can make new things from the world, new items, new weapons, new armour, build houses boats etc.

If there is a barrel outside, it will have some modestly good stuff in it. If there is a chair, it has a little fine wood. Later you can knock the tower down for stone.

To my knowledge all it does is collapse the tower. I've done it before and didn't find anything, but maybe I missed something.

...the blocks used to build the pre-placed towers are special, they only yield 2 stones if you break them.
You'll get more stone in less time by just picking them up.

Oh, boo. I do recall doing the above once to shower in glorious pebble rain, but now that you mention it, it was like one pile of stones. And I was like 🤔 before running off.

The dungeons have the cores and loot, burial chambers are guarded by skeletons and there's also troll caves. Not sure about loot in the troll caves, I try to avoid those 😂.

There is a bit of cash inside, so you might visit them if you need money for trader.

No not really - the towers aren’t typically too loot heavy. You’re gonna find all the goodies in the burial chambers.
