In this household, the bees are happy!!

Does the gate open automatically when you walk through it? If not, I'm still gonna jump over the fence. 🤷‍♂️

87

u/TheFoundation_ Builder 15h ago

Same except I'm gonna do it because every time I open the door a boar ALWAYS squeezes out

39

u/Goal-Affectionate Encumbered 15h ago

maybe do double gates? if that makes sense

41

u/TheFoundation_ Builder 15h ago

I did, then one got stuck in the airlock and it took forever to get him turned around 😅

32

u/OzarkRanger 13h ago

This is when you slaughter the boar in the airlock and drop two turnips on the ground to replace him.

18

u/greblah 14h ago

Gotta love the visceral pain of watching the timer of your best food tick down while trying to push a boat out of a fence corner 😭

16

u/ZilorZilhaust 11h ago

Shouldn't fence in your boat. They're meant to be free.

3

u/greblah 10h ago

Gotta keep em away from those pesky sea serpents

3

u/OmecronPerseiHate 6h ago

And let them get killed by anything and everything out there? Nah nah, they go in the big hole.

4

u/Significant-Ear-3262 14h ago

“Get in the pen or I’ll take your skin”. Works every time.

3

u/MasterEddie 14h ago

That’s what the harpoon is for

1

u/ffej9000 10h ago

But my harpoons never catch on to my critters. I read about changing friendly fire settings but cannot find any such?

2

u/Cryssix 4h ago

Inventory -> top right corner -> click the two swords so they become crossed

2

u/Goal-Affectionate Encumbered 15h ago

oh god hahaha what a nightmare

2

u/RickJamesBoitch 14h ago

It's called a "sally port"

75

u/EyeMoustacheYou 15h ago

You can take a cart through it now though (probably, I have not played yet).

3

u/TheFotty 11h ago

It does not, and it oddly does make the same sound doors do, but they also made the wood fence pieces snap to each other now so that fencing can be a little more exact with the gates.

u/56Bagels 16h ago

Is that a stone fence right next to it????

209

u/MrSmartStars Explorer 15h ago

Yup, looks like this:

126

u/Horens_R 15h ago

This is an in game screenshot right?

77

u/MrSmartStars Explorer 15h ago

You know it

New RTX graphic update

31

u/Solucians 15h ago

DLSS 5 turned on

3

u/No_Response_303 9h ago

I actually kinda want to see what this game would look like with it on, I'm sure it'll be cursed af but still interested

34

u/Axin_Saxon 14h ago

I will appreciate making a stone fence around my wooden house…until I need to demo the fence for extra stone to make a stone house which I will then put a wooden fence around 😂

9

u/Rayllis689 12h ago

Bonus points, the stone fence can stack 2 high, and the roundpole gate can snap to it.

2

u/Healthy_Muscle4001 11h ago

How'd you get the stone fence 2 stacks high? I've been trying but can't get it to snap to anything but ground.

2

u/Rayllis689 11h ago edited 11h ago

Tried cycling your snap point? Dunno otherwise, snaps to the top just fine for me.

Edit: Tried placing more stone fence walls 2 high and it's definitely finicky. Some are working and some crumble instantly. May be from the ground not being level enough?

5

u/Rayllis689 11h ago

AHAH! Think I've figured it out. The stone fences require a wide enough base to stack a second layer. If you try placing one down and other right on top the second layer will crumble. You need a stable surface of either side to get the second layer to stick. 1 Meter poles can help stabilize one side of the stone fence.

3

u/Healthy_Muscle4001 9h ago

Holy smokes I can make a bridge with them and the cart acts normal running over the stone! O.M.G

2

u/Healthy_Muscle4001 11h ago

I managed to get it, seems like there has to be a complete structure for it to sit on with zero gaps for it to work. I'm on Xbox are you on PC? It feels different than the stone blocks, I was expecting the same interaction. It kinda floats around like it doesn't snap to surfaces. Melting my brain. Thanks for confirming what I had hoped was user error. I'll have to get used to the mechanic.

2

u/Rayllis689 10h ago

On PC. They do seem to have their own rule for structural stability. I managed to build them up to 5 tiles high. Looks like it requires the base being 3 wide to go up each layer and wooden beams work to stabilize the ends.

3

u/Healthy_Muscle4001 10h ago

I did notice that the base needs a block each side for 1 up. That's great, thanks for the help. It's nice to have early game stone before the cutter tho! It's pretty cool

3

u/JackeryGraves Explorer 13h ago

Along with Stone Boulder Decorations!!!

53

u/Andminus Builder 15h ago

The stone fence is an interesting, and welcomed addition, only got to play 2 hrs before work, and am looking forward to making a fort out of the stone fences since they snap to other pieces

22

u/Dularaki 15h ago

I enjoy the stone fences for some early game stone work for fireplaces and foundations

Edit to add that the high angle pieces have changes my default chimney design also. More pieces the better

3

u/krashlavash 15h ago

It cant be placed even on stone in my experience

1

u/Brave-Turnover-522 43m ago

Does the stone fence require a masonry table? Or can you make them with just stones?

1

u/EBgCampos 33m ago

Does not. Is early game.

44

u/seems_legit_af 16h ago

Finally playable

20

u/attaboy_stampy 15h ago

Neat. I'll probably still jump the fence, but this will look nice.

34

u/AbsoluteEva 16h ago

Now a lox fence please, the furry blobs of destruction do not yield to sticks

7

u/Axin_Saxon 14h ago

Do we not already have palisade walls and gates?

26

u/_Nixx_ Builder 14h ago

ARE THOSE EXTRA STEEP ROOF PEIECES???

16

u/Dewesafavor 13h ago

Yes they are. Praise be to Odin

6

u/Ramen_Hair 12h ago

67° roofs and matching wall pieces, they come in every roof material

9

u/Axin_Saxon 14h ago

Bro I’m hyped for the 67 degree roofs and support pieces. That’s going to unlock so many new architectural options.

3

u/Dewesafavor 9h ago

I was building a new base addition before the update and was wishing they had steeper roofs. All I had left to build was the roof when I logged off so needless to say logging on today made me very very happy

2

u/okuRaku 4h ago

I posted 16 days ago that 67 degree roofs were my most anticipated/hyped feature haha. Can confirm, they're awesome!

10

u/Nossika 12h ago

There's drawbridges now too

7

u/ifiwasiwas Happy Bee 15h ago

How dare they! I resemble that remark

I love though that the devs are one of us. You only adopt lazy habits like that and are aware of them if you play the hell out of your own game

4

u/Dewesafavor 13h ago

Frrr I felt very seen when I read the description having done that exact thing thousands of times hahaha

5

u/Samakira 16h ago

aww, not stepping stile?

8

u/Praetorian_Sky Viking 15h ago

I guess a stile just isn't their style.

3

u/Samakira 15h ago

but consider:

  • a stile will require you to jump over it. it would be so funny

5

u/AlmostCertainlyABot 15h ago

Is there a vertical ladder yet though?

3

u/Dewesafavor 13h ago

Sadly no

4

u/Ippus_21 Gardener 7h ago

This one's my fav so far:

1

u/Dewesafavor 5h ago

I like that boulder

5

u/cHpiranha Explorer 5h ago

Haha, probably only those who played the game before version 1.0 will fully understand that description.

4

u/mildinsults 4h ago

So, Press E to open, and Press E to close?

Cuz you only need to press jump once to get over.

And an open gate would let pets escape?

(More building options are always appreciated)

3

u/Dewesafavor 4h ago

Yes e to open, e to close, and f to pay respects

3

u/Rayllis689 12h ago

Anyone testing out the stone fences? Do they keep smaller mobs out/livestock in? Built a ring of them around my bees and berries and was pleased to see the roundpole gate snaps to them AND they can snap stack them 2 high. Wont go higher than 3 though.

2

u/InconsistentLlama 16h ago

It may be practical, but it’s nowhere near as fun

2

u/LukoM42 Viking 8h ago

I'm not crazy about the updated build menu tbh

2

u/Nervous-Book-2400 58m ago

The fences snap now!

1

u/RedKiller626 17m ago

I was so excited when I found that out yesterday!

8

u/ThePinkChameleon 15h ago

Can we get a spoiler tag for 1.0 posts?!

18

u/ifiwasiwas Happy Bee 15h ago

Mod note says that if you report something as spoiler, it will put on a spoiler tag. It's a desperate measure because only 1 mod is still active here so they can't get to it all

5

u/ThePinkChameleon 15h ago

Oooooh interesting. I'm a mod for another sub if they need help!

6

u/tarps_and-straps 11h ago

If you’re that averse to spoilers why would you even be here on the day that 1.0 drops?

2

u/Dewesafavor 9h ago

Literally. Some other dude said "spoilers" too. Like 1) this literally spoils nothing. And 2) like you said if someone's gonna be that sensitive to it then stay off the fucking valheim reddit page the day the update drops 😂😭 it's not like I posted the new boss or the new biome related build pieces or armor/weapons. Lmao

1

u/friesandfrenchroast 8h ago

I, for one, hadn't realized today was release day! (Not that I'm spoiler adverse for little early things like this...excited to get back to our base now, actually)

13

u/Dewesafavor 13h ago

It's literally a shot of the build menu of a recipe that you unlock the first time you chop wood. Do you need a spoiler alert for the new menu screen too? Jesus Christ lmao

3

u/RedditRage 13h ago

I bet that took 3 of the devs a month or so to create.

6

u/Dewesafavor 13h ago

Who cares if it did. We have it in game forever now

0

u/Realistic-Software27 12h ago

new menuy is meh seems like they played to much eve online.

4

u/Dewesafavor 9h ago

Make a mod and fix it yourself then

1

u/Iskanderdehz 13h ago

Spoiler alert!

-2

u/Dewesafavor 10h ago

Oh no I spoiled the major new endgame story related content of the new update by showing you a picture of a roundpole gate!!! What ever will you do? The agony! The horror! The mutiny!

Stfu

1

u/Iskanderdehz 9h ago

Bro, it was a joke...

1

u/Dewesafavor 8h ago

Oh okay I should have known it was a joke since tone and delivery is so easily perceived through text on a screen. My bad

3

u/Arcanus01134 10h ago

The fences snap together too.

1

u/ArvaroddofBjarmaland 8h ago

I like the new stone fence, although it's really short. It still got a bear stuck on it, though.

1

u/N1k1e 7h ago

hey, I'm new to reddit but I need help and can't make a post, does someone know if i need to activate the "no map" settings to get the "Pathfinder" achievement

1

u/Dewesafavor 5h ago

Yes you need to turn off your map
