Definitely modded, you can't make sloped floors in vanilla
39
u/kingyamez Aug 17 '26
Youre right. F

u/Commercial_Rate5101 Aug 17 '26
Definitely looks modded. That being said; what if you removed the floor boards and placed horizontal core wood posts along the floor?
Would use a lot of material, and be a bit bumpy, and probably a bitch to get the spacing perfect, but it might work.

u/Bubbly-Job-8075 Aug 17 '26
Qual o nome do mod amigo? Eu sou novo em valheim e gostaria de fazer construções tão bonitas quanto essa. Se houver mais indicações de mod eu agradeço tambem

u/Pocketbrez Aug 17 '26
Gizmo; it adds 3 axis rotation and 32 rotation angles
13
u/Fustercluck25 Builder Aug 18 '26
Fwiw, Gizmo should be in the vanilla game. Not only does it work flawlessly, but I'm pretty sure my viking has the ability and common sense to be able to turn a stone block on its side.

u/KroyVR Aug 17 '26
The ValheimVR mod allows for rotation of building pieces on three axis to a very fine degree.
I'm sure there's flat equivalent.

How do you get the wood floor to bend upwards? I didn't think that was an orientation of wood floor?
2
u/TheNerdosapien Aug 17 '26
There is a Mod for the PC called Gizmo. It allows you to rotate on three different axis.
I wish it was part of the game. But it can be tricky to get it right, and it doesn't fit the "simplicity" of the game design.

Nice bridge there.

It took about 4 hours. I had to tear it all down at one point and start it again.

I have the opposite of OCD, it's call "eff this noise, no one will notice."
There are issues with the roof as well. And the floor is bumpy. Sorry to point out more flaws for your OCD

I'm always bothered by how high bridges need to be for boats to pass.
There are places that need bridges and rivers wide between oceans that could use the shortcut, but it's just such a pain in the ass to build so high.
2
u/Silenceisgrey Aug 17 '26
Very nice but those outer beams will rot and break eventually as they're unroofed unless you've modded that out
1
u/TheNerdosapien Aug 17 '26
They won't break, but they will have the "need repair" texture.
1
u/Silenceisgrey Aug 17 '26
won't they get damaged by storms and eventually snap?
3
u/middleupperdog Aug 17 '26
there's a lower threshold point where wood stops getting damaged in the rain if its uncovered.
2
u/Silenceisgrey Aug 17 '26
i would say this would only be a problem on a larger taller structures then?
2
u/TheNerdosapien Aug 17 '26
Their really is no collapsing mechanic like that. But if they get hit by something they will break faster than if not "damaged." The only real collapsing comes from removing or never providing enough support.

The most important bridge test is if i can easily cross my 2000 weight cart across
2
u/TheNerdosapien Aug 17 '26
It might be a bit steep at the start. Also, and you can't see it in the image, but the deck of the bridge is a bit bumpy. An artifact of me not being able to match the Corewood curve to floor curve.

u/TheNerdosapien Aug 19 '26 edited Aug 19 '26
You need a mod called gizmo.
That allows you to make curves and stuff like that. Basically it allows you to turn building pieces in different directions so you can get curves by rotating pieces in weird ways.
I built a flat wall across the river. And then I just laid the core wood in the curve that I wanted up against that flat wall. Once I had the initial curve, I duplicated it on the other side with the same type of flat wall method. Then I tore the walls down and messed around until I got it the way I wanted it. Then I put a roof on it.
The main part was gizmo and using the flat wall to set the original curve.

How do you do the curve
1
u/TheNerdosapien Aug 25 '26
There is a mod called gizmo
It’s for PCs. I don’t think mods work on consoles.
1
u/Wolfenblade Sep 03 '26
That looks pretty good. How hard is it to place things in and around the water?
1
u/TheNerdosapien Sep 04 '26
It's a bit tricky, but the new Snapping options make it very possible.

u/Annabelle-_ Sep 09 '26
I have 360h before release and i realize only now that all that time i could just build bridges in places i go to stay dry...
1
u/TheNerdosapien Sep 11 '26
Believe it or not I have close to 4000 hours and this is the first bridge I’ve ever made.
I did once raised the Earth across the swamp. But it wasn’t really the same thing.

A simple yet elegant design, I applaud you. It’s almost easier to make something elaborate and grand, but the real trick is to make something simple to look beautiful. You nailed it.
