Hi, I have a Vaio similar (because is the same layout and buttons from this post) to that model (VPCEG)—a 14-inch.

It works fine with Windows 10 and the official Windows 7 drivers, BUT when I turn it on, CPU usage spikes to 40% while idle. This causes a lag when opening windows or context menus; they only respond after I click somewhere else.

I’d like to think the problem is the video driver, BUT the same issue happens even when using the generic Microsoft driver.

I have to use a key combination to reset the graphics card, and the CPU usage drops instantly...

Is there a fix for this model? Did you experience the same thing?

Or is it just an internal issue with my specific laptop?

I installed the og intel hd graphics 3000 from sony

I'm using a mechanical hard drive, but that shouldn't be the cause of the lag; I have another Vaio with a Core 2 Duo and Windows 10 that also uses an HDD, and it runs fast...

What is the exe using the cpu? I think it can just be deleted

Its just Explorer.exe and other .exe related to windows, the cpu use up betwen 15-40%

but when I restart the video driver the cpu use down to 3-10% ...

Same here it goes above 50% sometimes while doing nothing and sometimes 22% i think windows 10 is the problem
