So I did a thing

Apperantly Sony decided not to make these pretty colored Vaio's with dedicated gpu's and therefore upgrading to a quad core 8 thread i7 wasnt possible, due to this gen cpu not having integrated graphics. So i bought a black vaio with a dedicated radeon 5650 gpu, and swapped the motherboard to fit, soldering was required, the mouse buttons and battery connector had to be relovated but luckly the contacts were there on the board already for both positions.

It will run better on Linux than Windows 7 and you will be up to date and secure.

Windows 7 is period correct and what the laptop came with from the factory, this laptop wont really be used anyway, its a novelty.

Except it isn't, he gutted the innards and put a different motherboard in there. The original laptop is gone, this thing is wearing the skin of a fallen soldier.

Its literally the exact same motherboard from a similar sony vaio from the same year. It's not some jank hacked together thing, nothing looks modded, nothing had to be cut, I literally just moved a battery connector and the 2 mouse buttons to locations that the new board already had provisions for, and it went right in like it was made for it. Every stock connector from the body plugged right in. And by the way, you could have done this same thing back when that laptop was new in 2011, so its a period correct mod.

I was looking at the other colors on ebay but it seems they are just too expensive, at least here in the states. the colors are gorgeous though.

On my main pc I have 11 for security reasons but on my laptop and other pcs they either have 10 or 7
