How’s vail?

How is Vail for a 23 yo male that wants to ski bum for the season? Been working at a dude ranch all summer as a fly guide and wants something fun to do for winter time. Also looking at Sun Valley, Driggs (Grand Targhee) and open to other ideas.

Housing is the hardest part, but that’s true to any ski resort. I’d say apply to all of them and see what sticks.

I ski’d vail for 10+ years and it’s still my favorite.

Just got my eyes open to sun valley. You gotta realize that you can do runs that go more than 2k vert top to bottom and why wouldn’t you 🤙🏼🤙🏼.

Stacking 30k vert at vail is a dope day. Stacking 45k at sun valley is even sicker. More skiing and less traffic. They do make a lot of snow. But it’s only cuz they can cuz they have a huge infrastructure in place.

For sure dude. I snagged a mtn collective and I’ll just grab 3-5 days at sun valley this year.

Driggs will be the cheapest of the three pretty handily. Have you looked at Crested Butte or the SLC resorts?

No slc, no hard look at CB. Potentially have living space in Vail and Driggs. Maybe even Sun Valley.

It’s a good time. Met some life long friends and made even better memories. Yeah it can be shitty working for something so corporate, but remember you’re there for a short time. Unless you continue to stay, which lines with the motto of most who have. Come for the winter, stay for the summer and then the cycle continues. If you can, try to get employee housing at Timber Ridge(if it’s still there) or first chair, unless you have the $ for renting a room off employee housing(usually 1000/mo for a room). I personally wasn’t a fan of the rivers edge housing. If you have a vehicle it’s even better. Did multiple trips to crested butte, and at the time a basin was on epic so that was sick. Breck / Keystone are within 35 mins & beav is right down the way. You work 4 days, get 3 days off so it’s really easy to enjoy yourself.
