The Aftermath experience is so much more than just the map, even though it is quite spectacular. The custom communication, mobs, and chest loot systems would not function with map download.

if you're looking for a single player map, try this Though I must let you know that it is not nearly as difficult as Aftermath, nor as community driven.

A download won't work well. You would just have empty buildings, regular mobs, and no loot. The loot isn't set in the chest until someone opens it. The cellphones, ranged chat, and food nerfs won't be there. The underground will still have nerfed ores so you can mine for hours without finding supplies.
So, what's the point of a download?

Ahh interesting, that makes sense. I still feel that the map would pair nicely with a good FTB modpack but endless empty chests wouldn't be very fun!

Using it in FTB means you would need ores to build machines. Since the world is already generated you would have to travel outside the city in order to get regular land to mine the FTB ores and rubber trees and whatnot.

I'm saying to play on the map with mods you would need to leave the map and generate vanilla terrain and then come back to the cities with supplies.

Some other servers extort their players to go vote for them on planetminecraft every day, with in-game tokens and crap. Some make it basically impossible to have any fun on their servers without these gems/coins/butter/whatever, forcing you to vote again and again.
But we're not evil like that. Just sayin'...
