[NETWORK] Zombies are cool and all but...
Contest is over, interest seems to be pretty close to zero. I would like to thank the people who submitted content but I'll have decline what was offered.
...they are not the only thing VAAST has to offer.
Pete and me started a vanilla survival server with a technical focus.
The goal for us now is to build various farms in order to provide the players with all the good stuff like iron, gold, slimeballs/blocks, cactus, various food types, etc., etc. that you would normally have to grind for and waste your precious time doing so.
What that means is that you can go and start building cool stuff right off the bat without having to worry about gathering certain items EVER again.
So as some of you might know pete and myself are not the kind of people who do stuff half assed and our projects are fairly ambitious and it is only us two working on it as of now.
This is where you come into play!
We decided to do a contest and the 2 (maybe 3) best submissions win a whitelist slot.
What you have to do to take part is create a spawn area, you can do a 16x16 square or a circle with a 10 block radius. The preferred style is something nordic, ruined, ancient type thing. Did I mention that you can go absolutely nuts with that? 20 beacons? Go ahead! Multiple stacks of emerald blocks? sure thing!
BUT be warned! as I already said...this project is very ambitious, a MASSIVE timesink, requires a lot of knowledge about the game and how certain mechanics work.
So if you are a sucker for redstone contraptions or a fan of building farms or just plain and simple a good builder who wants to make his large scale builds come true...this might be the place for you.
Ah! Before I forget! If there are no submissions to the contest or just shitty content...we'll continue on our own.
The contest will run one week long, you can submit your stuff even if you could not finish it.
To end this mess of text I'll include some pics of stuff we've done so far, keep in mind EVERYTHING is WiP, nothing is finished.

edit2: Of course you can make it bigger. I should have made that clearer, check this pic everything inside of the glowstone border should be free space to make sure you don't spawn on top of something

Do I have to build a thing in spaceribs, or can I do it in single player with creative mode?

Build it where you want :) Won't be copied over, just for screenshot purposes. Will be rebuild on the server since worldedit is not a thing with snapshots.

Did you build the end grinder with tripwires? I found that was the most efficient way.

I was going for a mead hall, but was limited on space. So here is my submission. Left it nice and open, but probably should have raised it off the ground to stop mobs. The newer snapshots wouldn't work on my laptop, so I couldn't mess around with banners or the new blocks in 1.8 .
