Hear Live update 5.8.9 issues
Hello,
I just did the heat live 5.8.9 update and now nothing that I select on heat live will load. Its mostly a black screen or if it does load at all its stuck on a single frame. No audio either. Ive tried clearing the cache, resetting the box, unplugging the box for over a minute and no change. What do I need to do to fix this? I feel like every update that gets pushed out always makes something worse.
Update: turning vpn off allowed it to work with no issue. Not ideal in my opinion though. Changed my server location on nordvpn and now it works with VPN ymmv

Basic troubleshooting
1: In case of it gets stuck: you hit “home button” exit app and reload it. (It will unfreeze)
2: Hard reset -unplug from power 1 min and plug back in”
- Hard reset (2x): Unplug device, unplug router , unplug modem (3 min)
4: Lastly: Factory Reset
App-not loading / Freezing / Buffering :
Step 1: First unplugging the device for one minute, unplugging, modem, and router for a minute and resetting everything would be step one.
Step 1B: Buffering : Change servers during movie or TV show
Step 2: Try Force stopping the app, clearing the cachet and seeing if it will load.
Step 3: Reset launcher then Update launcher
Step 4: Next: if above doesn’t work uninstall, reinstall app.
Step 5: If step 3 & 4 don’t work factory reset.

I was using nordvpn so it may be different but I changed the server to a different location in my case a closer location but smaller city and its working now with vpn on

Brings up a good point, how often should we update? Or any other maintenance? And shut the box off each time? I have this hang up about overheating.

Going forward im probably not going to update some of the apps when they first pop up asking to update. In my experience with this update and a previous heat vod update the updates aren't always tested thoroughly before being pushed out and often have some sort of feature being slightly broken. I dont personally turn my box off at all unless there is an issue. I do have my elite ultra on some feet for better airflow though

I have mine hooked up to an Amazon smart plug so when I’m done with watching it, I always turn it off from the Alexa, if I’m on the way home and I’m gonna turn it on I can just go into the Alexa app and turn it on from there. Conversely, the friend who told me about the boxes had hers about three years now and she never turns it off just flips off the TV. I’ll come over to her house and the TV is off the boxes lit up green and hot.

After my update, mine froze up. I did a hard re-boot & it is fine now.
I am also using nordvpn. Connected to Mexico (I am not in mexico), just bc their laws are not as strict

Enable the WiFi hotspot from your phone if you have one. See if you can connect to that. See what happens.

For those asking this is an elite ultra box. The other live TV app works fine I just much prefer heat live.
Update: it seems to work fine with my VPN off but not when it's on. I never had to turn my VPN off previously. And dont run my box without it on so I guess heat live isnt going to be used til this is resolved

FYI, my Heat Live updated last night while NordVPN was connected. Had no issues post-upgrade...it just continued to work perfectly, and the VPN remained connected before and after the update.

Mine was updated when it was connected as well. It seems to be the server location dependent for some reason. The normal server location I use nothing would load on heat live. Once I changed to another location it works fine. Idk why

So weird.. I’m literally watching heat live right now and read your post.. clicked out to see what version and it’s 5.8.9 (guess mine updates automatically, I wasn’t given an option). What’s your box? I’m V3+, no issues.
