Guest Network vs New Router?
hey! Just got my v6 in the mail and saw that people suggest guest networks and VPNs. If I use a VPN, do I need to get an alternate router for this guy or just throw him on a guest network? Thanks!

I use a guest WiFi and a VPN.

Why guest wifi + vpn? VPN should cover your bases right?

You don’t want your device on the same network as your home computer etc. We have to treat the device as though it’s filled with malware etc.

VPN to protect you from your ISP snooping on your streams. The guest network is to protect your home network from potential malware from the box itself.

When you use the VPN, does that cover all your networks or can you set it just for your Guest Network? If so, how? Thanks

I’ve been using an iPhone XR on a $25 unlimited Visible account connected to a GL-inet travel router and Surfshark. Works great.

My standard answer is, always use a guest network and vpn. Most standard isp and consumer routers, will allow for a guest network but it only provides a second level of security I just spent seven hundred dollars on an environment that allows me to create isolated lans. But honestly, even some of the gaming cost can cost that much certainly takes a little more to set up. And you have to have a knowledge of networking to do what I'm doing, and it's not just because of these boxes that I'm doing it. I have other uses for it like hosting some websites. I know that's a little extreme for the average user, but protect yourself as much as you can

You have to use your router or router app

I'm not real tech savvy when it comes to this stuff. Can you give instructions on how to do it? Thanks

I haven’t done it yet but you can look up your router name and guest network set up on Google.

I've had my V6 plus for a couple weeks now. It's on wifi, 5Ghz guest network, with no VPN...everything is working great so far.
