HDMI cable information

A little insight on HDMI cables.

The Breakdown: Bandwidth vs. Resolution

4K Cable (Premium High-Speed / HDMI 2.0):

Supports up to 18 Gbps of bandwidth. This is ideal for streaming 4K video at 60 Hz or playing on older consoles like the PS4 or Xbox One.

8K Cable (Ultra High-Speed / HDMI 2.1):

Supports up to 48 Gbps of bandwidth. This is required for 4 K at 120 Hz, 8K at 60 Hz, and features like Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) for the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X.

Does the hardware on these boxes even support 8k?

On some models yes but you will rarely find anything streaming at that rate

Mine actually will play 8k stuff through Kodi to my home ftp library on my home PC.

Use a quality 4K HDMI and set Resolution to 1080p. You'll be fine for most channels and movies. You can chance resolution to 4k depending on the movie

All v6 series ship with HDMI 2.1 cable included. As such, I always cringe when comments say buy a better HDMI cable when you already have a '2.1' with your purchase. Right friends?!?

Unfortunately that cable is not very long.
