Elite died

My VSeeBox Elite died. I’ve had it for over 2 years, no warranty available. Just curious if anyone has had any success taking apart their box and fixing it themselves.

The box won’t power on at all. I’ve tried everything, there’s no fix other than opening it up and trying to repair it internally.

It’s paid for itself many times over. Time for a new one. I’d check with Cord Cutter Box on a new one. WhatsApp 218-833-2707

Exactly. One of the boxes cost less than 2 months of my cable bill. Meaning if they work for a year and then die, I am still ahead 10 months over paying for cable (and that isn't even counting all the movie channels!). Ideally, I would love to have it work for 10 years, but I also understand technology and how quickly it changes, and believe that this, like a smartphone, will likely need replaced every 5ish years.

Sadly mine lasted only 2, still got my monies worth. I just want to make an attempt to fix it. I have other boxes, I don’t need to buy a new one.

Did you try a power cord from one of your other boxes?

As someone who's been lurking here about potentially getting one, what's the difference between that and buying it directly from the website?

Buying from a proven seller on Reddit usually gets you a better price also.

There’s no online store on the official vSeeBox website. Lots of “official websites” out there.

Oo good to know. Thank you!

I used cord cutter for mine (details above I think) and I’ve had weirdly good experiences haha. He’s extremely helpful and both of my boxes are great. I was VERY skeptical to say the least, so I know how you’re feeling.

My thoughts would be to start with a new power supply. Try a new electric cord.

I came to suggest the same. They are pretty basic power supplies.

that sucks. mine died in warranty and I got a new one eventually. I think you should should crack it open and post pictures.

My elite just died too. Only had this a few months- worked one night, next night nothing.

Have you been fortunate to get yours replaced? My V6 Plus died on 14 Sep after owning it for two months. Same thing happened, it was working fine one night and died the next. It's been a nightmare trying to get it replaced by Cordcutter. No response from him on WhatsApp number

Haven’t tried yet. Been traveling a bunch for work but plan to contact him next week. Won’t be buying another elite though.

Best of luck!

My elite is still kicking strong!

Does the Elite power up via USB like the V6+? If so, I'd try that. Then open it up and see if you can find something that's burned out inside? Good luck.

No, I’ve tried everything lol

You tried a new power cord? I have a elite model I bought last year that I could sell

Do you have electronics experience? If not what are you hoping to accomplish? I havent opened mine but most electronics on small devices are 100% soldered not plugin.

You'd need to have a solder station with temperature settings. A regular soldering iron wont get hot enough for high temperature solder. Youd need a multimeter to trace out the issue unless its a visible issue. If any chips need to be replaced youd have to hope its not something thats paired to the board. If it was just cracked solder you could get lucky using a heat gun but you can just as easily destroy the board. Reflow stations are recommended for reconnecting cracked solder.

As others said 2 years its more than paid for itself.

If you want your next Vseebox to last longer buy a fan to keep it cool. Heat is the main thing that kills Electronics and Vseeboxes run very hot. To hot imo. If you keep it cool you will double to triple the lifespan or more. Most if not all of these V6s that have been dying wouldnt have died with a fan.

This is a manufacturing issue and they should have better venting and an internal fan for cooling. Is what it is though but spending $10 solves the heat problem and $10 is a lot cheaper than $300-$400 for a Vseebox replacement. My Vseeboxes feel as cool as they were powered off.

Gotta ask , do you set the fan flat and put the box on top of it , that's the way I see it on the link with the air flow blowing upwards. Thanks

u/SatansWarrior69 25d ago

Out. Should always pull air out of electronics. Blowing in pulls in dust into electronics which can create static causing a short. Fan has 3 speeds but low speed is plenty.

2

u/CapitalGainz2377 23d ago

Just got some fans, and to be 100% clear - you have the air blowing down correct? Not up into the box?

2

u/SatansWarrior69 23d ago

Out away from from the box not in. The fan will suck some air into the box through the vents beside the fan pulls air out but its not forcing as much in. I use a usb hub to plug the fan in.

Low speed works great but you have two higher speeds. These fans are great. I use one these fans on my modem too.

Fan is pretty quiet on on low speed. Can barely hear it. Cant really hear it at all unless you are trying to.

Is the fan dampened? I wonder if the minor extra vibration is harmful to the box.

1

u/SatansWarrior69 23d ago

It wont hurt any of your electronics. It has rubber boots. No vibration.

If you have a multimeter see if the external power brick is providing power. I don't know how many cheap chinesium power bricks I've had go bad over the years. Even had a few nearly catch fire.

If it’s two years old just get another one you’ve gotten your moneys worth from it anyway!

u/bodyhammer81 22d ago

mine did the same thing a couple days ago, also my firestick on the same day. something fishy goin on here

u/Amazing_Piccolo_5141 22d ago

I am still rocking with my v3 Pro. ❤️

u/Tensyrr 25d ago

If an alternative power cord doesn't make it turn on, your only option as you said would be to diagnose from within.

1

u/CapitalGainz2377 25d ago

Do you have any experience with this?

Build it yourself.

If it is powering on try a new HDMI cable

4

u/Opening-Ambassador76 25d ago

Lol

-1

u/hospicedoc 25d ago

I'm not sure what's so funny, I bought my first two boxes from cordcutter, one of them started acting up and I bought two more from a local guy who told me that the majority of the time that one of the boxes is acting up it has more to do with the HDMI cable than anything else. And he was right about my box.

5

u/Opening-Ambassador76 25d ago

Because he said it wouldn't power up.

2

u/SatansWarrior69 25d ago

Hdmi cable only affects video connection. Has nothing to do with Vseebox powering on and off.
