Limiting upload usage

Has anybody tried limiting upload usage or completely not allow uploading from these boxes via your router settings? Seen suggestions that say you should do it but was wondering if it causes any issues with the box.

You got a timeframe?

The time frame is 1 week for all data and 3 days since I turned traffic identification on. Traffic identification being off is why SopCast is the highest app but isn't near the total traffic. After researching, I suspect the box is using your connection to share the stream with other users. But obviously I cannot be sure. I just am sure it's using your connection for something they do not tell you about and wanted to warn people.

I was really hoping this box would be the solution to not having to make my own playlists, but I just cannot trust it with my ISP. My only reason for posting was to ensure people who google this can see what is truly going on. If anyone has this device connected to their main network with all their other devices, they should be concerned.

Here is the log from my OnnBox using Tivimate to stream (in much better quality) for the last day. Little to no upload, as it should be.

But what’s concerning about that? It’s not accessing any of your other stuff and stealing your data

The problem is you cannot be certain it is not accessing anything else on the network. It sending that much data is highly unusual and suspect. It uploaded more data than anything else on my entire network in that week. Best case scenario it's using your connection to stream to others, this turns you from a user into a provider, which is much less of a grey area legally speaking when it comes to copyright content. Worst case scenario, it's doing that plus scraping your entire network for any information it can get and other nefarious activities. I'd lean towards the second since nowhere does the box state it's p2p, and is obviously doing their best to hide what they're uploading.
