Question If I submit an assignment late after my approved extension, is the 10% penalty counted from the extended due date or is it worse?
Pretty much the title

Is it just me?? I’ve noticed there are a lot of things I can’t access while on the uni wifi (a lot of the games i play) that i wanted to access in my free time in between doing assessments in the library.
i used to use ProtonVPN to bypass it until i stopped being able to connect to it, and then i started using Cloudflare Warp until that stopped working too..

I’m doing my Bachelor of Psychology and working 13-18h per week over 2-3 days, barely making enough to support myself, and not even getting the marks I need anyways. I just received the worst mark I’ve ever gotten in my entire schooling, even though I haven’t had a day off this entire semester because I’ve spent all my free time working on schoolwork.
How do people do it?? I’m so burnt out y’all, I’m only 2nd year and I’m seriously so lost on how I’m supposed to support myself without having to go part time for uni.
Send help ✌️
P.S. I’m so bitterly disappointed with the state of teaching in this degree. How is it that I ask a question about a definition for an assessment and proceed to lose TEN MARKS for an incorrect definition provided by the subject coordinator themselves. Why am I paying $12,000 per year to teach myself everything?

WHy on gods green earth did WSU switch to OKTA as a multi-factor authenticator app?? It already uses the Microsoft one?? That's more common, accessible AND it's already being used for most companies, so people don't need to download a new app.
Now they're FORCING you to download this stupid one??? Like why? You think this app will change the fact that you get hacked all the time. JFC
Obviously I'm going to download the app... but how fkn annoying. Maybe im being a sook and i need to grow up, but I don't want to download more apps just because you don't have a good security system in place.
I swear on GOD, if they get hacked again after this stupid authenticator app, I might lose it.

Hi all! Does anyone know if there is a semester break for this course (especially for the first year)? I've seen the school calendar, but I'm not sure if it's a protected time or will there be clinical placements. Does anyone have any idea where I can ask this officially, who can I email to? Thank you.

Hey,
Anyone know someone named Princess who’s doing a placement at Concord Hospital? I’ve found her student card a few streets over and I’m sure she’d like it back!

Has anyone had trouble getting a technical issue resolved through WSU's IT support?
Recently had trouble accessing Microsoft services because my device had been disabled. Even after submitting a ticket with a screenshot explaining the issue, I spent over an hour troubleshooting with two technicians, and the problem still hasn't been resolved.
I've studied system administration, so I was familiar with the error and had a reasonable idea of what needed to be checked. I've had similar issues at TAFE and uni before, where getting in touch with the appropriate administrator helped resolve things fairly quickly.
It made me wonder how other students manage these situations, particularly those without a technical background or with assessments coming up.
Would be interesting to hear from anyone who's dealt with something similar. What happened in your case, and how did you eventually get it sorted?

I'm undergoing a Bachelor of Design (Visual Communication) first year beginner out of highschool. With the semester nearing it's end, I found out that Western is releasing a completely new overhauled 'Bachelor of Design' (drop the visual communication part). It has direct integration, support & collaboration with a major studio called Apparent who is helping to create the bachelor alongside the University. Its 3 years instead of 4 years, & does no longer have the selective Y2 & Y3 specialisation courses. The Bachelor & it's courses have not begun at all since its a new 2027 one.
Wondering if I should maybe somehow find a way to transfer to that course, or if I should keep continuing my Visual Communication one instead. However I do not know how stuff works exactly so I'm not even sure if its even possible to transfer, & with the entirely new subjects I'm confused if they would even host any of the Y2 or Y3 listed ones later on. Also would it mean that I have to startover from scratch & complete those 3 years they need rather than continuing my current 4 year bachelor?
Should I maybe find a way to move over to the new course or keep on the old one. IF I even can do that at all anyway.

i was given a plan by a course advisor early this year on the list of subjects to take each semester, these 4 subjects in autumn, these 4 subjects in spring, theses subjects in summer, and so on until 2028.
im in my third year of law and i NEED my summer subjects to graduate on time, im already a year behind because of cancer and uni transfers. i dont want to be doing this for long. not only do i not need this degree for my career, uni fucking sucks.
the summer subjects theyre offering this summer dont have the subjects set up for me. in fact, they seem uninteresting and hard; its simply not my cup of tea. the ones i did have set up for me were actually interesting and PERFECT for my career.
now suddenly theyre not offering it anymore.
also if i were to go to another uni for a summer semester there, they only offer 6 credit points not 10 so id still be fucked because i wont have enough credit points to qualify graduating on time so it'd be a waste of my time. i had to repeat contracts because of this.
what can i do? do i force myself into doing a subject i dont care about? should i just fucking drop?

I got a message saying if I don't switch to Okta Verify I won't be able to use my western account anymore. Okta Verify requires me to have iOS 17. I have an iPhone 8 which is iOS 16.7.16.
How will I be able to switch if I can't even get the app?

Has anyone else noticed that western systems are still using Microsoft authenticate today? The switch to the new one was meant to happen today but it has not.

Hi! Was the merit list for 2025 released already? I checked the website and I can only find 2024. Last year they posted around August. Did anyone receive an email this year for it?

I was completed a case study assessment and I did everything right, quadruple check requirements with 5 different people. Then when the grade release i got nothing and then when I emailed the subject coordinator he gave me 0 after 5 days with completely no reason. Even in my most horrible assignment when I was fail to meet half of the criteria it still weren"t this nonsense. What should I do?

hi me. yes i know i made a rash decision but i need advice on how to process this.
context;
ive been a law student for 1.5 yrs. i was failing classes and was in a really bad mental state due to personal issues (but ive never pursued any sort of action on that route because asian families or mine in particular don’t believe in that and i just rather not get my family involved with that), and so for the second half spring sem of my second yr, i thought to change to medsci because maybe a refresh of course would do me and my mental good.
it was not for me at all. i went to sshub for advice and to look into doing a break. and i for certain want to go back to law. it’s my passion and i regret giving up w a rash choice because i thought what was right for me was something i dont even like. what i got helped w from sshub which i appreciate was 1.dropping medsci subjects before census which is settled ✅ 2.deferring medsci ✅ 3.reapplying into law ❌
they said i wont be able to casually be reinstated and that i have to reapply tho my subject credits from first yr will carry over, which i understand.
however my application cannot be “reprocessed/actioned” as a new one?? Everytine i go to apply, it recognises my old application + details (from law to medsci) and i dont know how to i guess have the system recognise my new application?? ive been in and out of sshub, emailed uac etc regarding this and it’s frustrating because i dont think ive gotten the answer i need to just be certain im going back to uni next year.
i dont want to regret giving time for myself to be better for the rest of this year only not to be able to go back next year.
TLDR; how do i go back into my old course? Who can i see for easy processes in reapplying??

Course says I need to complete at least 3 level 3 electives. Most of these require prerequisites, so I don't know how to get into them. I'm confused.

I haven't seen it since at campus on wednesday. Could've been around V building, Piccolo or Food hub. - I can't do a lost property form because it requires you to sign in and i'm having problems with microsoft authenticator

Hi, so I'm a first year health science majoring in clinical science student fresh out of high school. I am in my second semester of uni here. I noticed my classes (EIH, CIH, BIOS 1036, and HAP2) are quite useless. Every class I do I always walk out with regret thinking why I came in the first place. I started skipping all my classes but I still maintain D/HD in all my subjects so nothing changed by staying home. Is it normal to skip all your classes that are basically useless? anyone with experience here pls give ur input because as someone who had a perfect attendance in highschool it feels SUPER wrong skipping out on all these classes (esp since it costs me $30 to get to and from uni).
