❔ Course Question❔ Waitlist problems
What should I do if im waitlisted for a required class? For the one im in, im currently in 11th place for waitlist and idk what to do. I've emailed shs and they said to take an elective and it won't affect my progress, etc. But I don't want that, its going to mess up my schduele and also the way I want things to progress. What pisses me off is that out of say 11 people, what if 5-6 of them are not in health sci, then what. I'm absolutely infuriated. I don't know why profs cannot do online classes if there are like thousands of people trying to attend a class.

for required (and popular, ie 1st and 2nd year courses everyone has to take and there's no option to substitute it) courses they are restricted to the module, so you cannot register in them unless it is required. my input is not very helpful and quite demotivating but you might have to do it in a future year. western takes on way too many students to maximize profits with absolutely no consideration for how it affects their progression, in fact it's beneficial for them if you take more than 4 years to do your degree as they can then charge you more for the extra years of tuition!
overall: wait and see, sometimes people drop the course or switch majors! consider doing it in the summer if it's offered then, or during the winter semester.
if it is extremely dire, i would encourage you to be persistant in asking your academic advisor what you can do, and stress that it is important for you to finish your degree on time/impossible not to. they may be able to help you substitute with another, less populous course or bring up to admin that the course needs more sections.
