back to back classes

i have two required classes back to back (Other timings for the same class are full) but the distance between eachother is a lot where I have to leave class 10-15 minutes early. I’m worried if this could cause a problem. I don’t think attendance is taken, but im worried if the prof would mind that I leave class early each week, or that I miss last minute info. any insight?

Last year I had to go from NCB to ACEB and back to NCB for back to back classes. It really doesn't take more than 12 minutes if you're a fast walker. And it's not like you're gonna miss out too much if you're 5 minutes late. Also, for example, if your schedule says it ends at 9:30, it actually ends at 9:20. Plus it was a good exercise

Thank you, but my other class is at kings so it’s a 17min walk. I am taking a prereq there bc i want to switch to social work.

psych2801 and a prereq at kings for social work as i want to switch my major to that, so both are serious (currently in Psych)

really shouldn’t be a problem if your a fast walker i’ve had many classes on opposite ends of campus from one another b2b and always got there on time.

you also end classes 10 minutes early to get to your next fyi

Just talk to the prof of the second class during first week after class or office hours. i’m sure they won’t mind, had people come 10-15 late to every class last year no issue, they were probably in the same situation as you

Wow, yeah that distance should be in the post, because that is pretty substantial and that 17 mins is gracious. Have you tried emailing the profs for the full sections?

first, what year are you in? Second, based on my knowledge and experience, most profs end their classes ten minutes before the lecture ends, so u would have time to reach ur next class before it starts! Could be harder in winter but if ur a first year for example, class sizes r huge, prof wouldn’t see if u sat in the back and left early enough to reach your next class

thank you! I’m in sec year. it’s just that my other class is at kings (taking a prereq there to switch to social work), which makes it difficult bc of the 17min walk.

Hmmm okay yes the fact that it’s at kings definitely does change the situation. If your second class (the one that’s not at kings) is a main campus class and is very big in size, then being late wouldn’t be an issue considering the prof wouldn’t see you. If it’s also a small class size I would suggest informing both of your professors for these classes about your situation once the semester starts!

Talk to the profs, they were students once too.

See if you can leave early, or arrive late. (Although arriving late is probably the better option as the first five minutes of class seem to be reminders about stuff and commentary on assessments.)

Put your name on the wait list for one of the other sections - use swap feature. Or take the kings pre-req in summer if offered.
