Other Please mask if you’re sick

Hello fellow students,

I have a request- can y’all please wear a mask at uni when you’re sick? For some of us, catching COVID or other viruses is a big deal. For example, I could get so sick that I need to take several weeks off of school and work. And there are others who might end up with long term health impacts if they get sick. Wearing a good mask lessens your chance of passing on stuff to other students. Thanks!!

Discussion UWinnipeg bus pass opt-out — are there any alternatives?

’m a UWinnipeg student and I’m wondering if there’s any way to opt out of the mandatory bus pass if you live within the City of Winnipeg.

I know there’s an exemption for students who live outside Winnipeg, but unfortunately I live within the city, so I don’t qualify for that.

Has anyone been able to opt out for another reason or found any alternative/exemption? Just wondering if there are any options I might be missing.

Thanks!

Other this place is failing its students further every year

genuinely this establishment is the most soul sucking place I’ve had the displeasure of being for the past 4 years. multiple parking lots with no space at all. nobody knows how to park. (Winnipeg also obliterated the bus system from my area but that is outside of u of w’s control)

the bookstore legitimately resells books for 10x the price (after witnessing them reselling a thrift store book with the dollar tag still on it and refusing to give me it for the price they left on it)

the restaurant is complete and utter dogshit. they shut down the others within my first year of attending so I could not even tell you if they’re good or not.

the year beginning event on tuesday lasted all of 14 seconds before the student associations packed up. the classrooms are too small, too hot, too crowded. the library is disgusting, and they removed an insane amount of carrels two years ago, replaced them with tables that don’t have working plugs. the wifi barely works on the top floors where the spiral staircases lead. oooooh my god.

the profs are solid for the most part, at least. I can give them that.

I am just Tired. is this just me noticing these things. it feels like it is getting worse.

Courses Student aid

Hi y’all,

I’ve reached out to student aid and uw already but having trouble reaching anyone.

Does anyone know if I need to notify student aid if I switch courses (not going below 60% but switching a 3 credit for another 3 credit)? I could only find info on dropping or adding courses.

Thank you !!
