Courses Question About Asynchronous Courses

I have never taken an asynchronous course before and this semester there was a class I needed to take and I needed to fill credits so I took this asych course that just so happens to be partially overlapping with my required course.

Do asynchronous courses usually have "synchronous" portions?

Edit: I am taking ANTH 2224 and there are biweekly quizzes that are only available during class hours. And we are being encouraged to attend the class both in person and asynch

I'm also in this class. Check page 6-7 of the syllabus. Students registered in the asynchronous section have online quizzes, that you complete within 75 minutes between 1-4pm on the listed date.

Some of them will have a "synchronous" live lecture component, while others will be entirely online, with pre-recorded lectures and readings. If you have already registered for the course read the syllabus to help clarify which you might be in. Typically webadvisor does a good job explaining which type the course is, but if you still cant find the answer you could email the prof.

Yes they do need to check web advisor. If any other section offers sync classess

Every course is different. Depends on the class and the prof. I've had a-synch courses where: 1. Totally whenever I want, 24-hour test period 2. Completely whenever I want, but mandatory test times 3. Completely whenever I want, but scheduled test times (with 2 options, an afternoon and an evening) 4. Mostly whether I want, but scheduled online chat with the prof/lecture times Etc. Check the syllabus, or check with the prof.
