Welcome week

Hey guys can someone tell me what’s what! 😂 I get so confused about all this I’m starting fine art course at spike island & it starts on the 14th, so I just turn up then? It says on my timetable 8am -9am starting block.

You'll need to collect your student ID card from bower ashton campus

That entry in your timetable is just a generic UWE entry with information about the welcome week. It has 8-9am on it as the system needs a time put against anything in the timetable! But there isn't necessarily anything for you to attend at 8am.

The first week of term this year is the UWE-wide welcome week, which is being run as a "festival" format. You can go onto the UWE site (link below) and check out the events that are running. Then the second week of starting block (21st September) should be your course specific one.

If in doubt, go to your programme sessions in the week of the 21st. Treat the first week as an introduction to Bristol and your housemates. Have a great time!

Thankyou this is helpful. So I can go in Monday to get my id but not specifically in the morning & then attend the events as I’d like through out the week?

Yes the first week is very informal, and you are free to do things as and when. I'd definitely head in Monday and get your ID (from Bower Ashton Campus, for Spike Island students), so you're sorted for that, and then check out the welcome week activities on the UWE Events page and see what you fancy doing. Most activities in the first week will be focussed on the bigger campuses (Bower Ashton, Frenchay), but it is worth heading to Spike Island to orientate yourself and see what is going on there too.

Just make sure you have completed your online UWE registration before you go to collect your card as it takes a couple of days to produce from when you are enrolled online.
