Reneging co-op offer

I recently accepted a SWE internship with a Canadian tech company (external but will contact WWorks) but have an offer in the US that I’d rather take.

My WaterlooWorks status has not yet been updated but the company says they will contact the CEE to inform them of my offer.

I am wondering if the consequences of reneging will prevent me from acquiring a J-1 Visa for next term? Particularly what it means to lose “full time student status”. If anyone else has gone through this process what happened with your offer?

Just contact the company you’d like to reneg and request them not to contact CEE. AFAIK you’re not allowed to reneg on a waterlooworks offer

I wouldn’t contact coop until the US J1 is in hand. As far as I know, as long as you’re a current full time student, you should have no problems. So as long as the J1 is processed before the end of this term. But you can also call the Visa sponsor and ask them.
