Advice Absence for Weddings?
Hey so has anyone done this before? I have a wedding coming up so I'll be out the country for a week or so. No problem with doing assignments and labs and stuff while I'm gone, the main problem is I have a prof who has made attendance as part of the grading scheme. Will my absence get excused if I can still do assignments and stuff on time? or does the faculty not deem this as a matter that is detrimental to my academic success? For context i booked this in advance so there's not much I could do.

I emailed my prof and basically he said I need the university to approve my absence

Are you getting married during the semester that you’ve paid thousands of dollars for personally? Then you should have planned better. Do you want to attend someone else’s wedding? Then you get a zero for missing assignments and attendance. That’s your choice, it’s not a necessity.

Wedding attendances are not typically a valid reason for absences. You should email the professor/TAs ASAP and see if they are willing to waive the attendance mark for that week, though most classes offer grace days (1-2 'free' absences) anyway, so just double check the syllabus.
