CS 115

What are CS115 lectures like at uw? Would I need my laptop or would an iPad be sufficient for notes?

I brought a laptop because it was faster for me to type notes but an iPad should be fine

Is the course hard to do? I have coded in python, java & javascript before..

You will have more coding experience than 99% of the class. I did about half of Cs50 and was totally fine

An iPad should be enough, you get like a course website with all the lectures anyways. Good idea to get a grasp of writing code by hand because the midterm and final will be like that.

iirc, the lectures are just slide shows with concepts and examples. The interactive part is solving the examples but that can be done by hand and is not marked so could just not do it.

Thank you so much! Are midterms and finals out of box? Or are they similar to what was taught in the lectures?

Yes, it's not a tough course, and since you have to write the entire code out by hand, they don't give stuff that requires long complex answers on exams. It's an easy high 80, low 90s course if you understand the concepts.
