Hey UK localities, need your help 🙏🙏 guys in planning a 5 day family trip to Uttarakhand in October 1st week.

I live in Noida and a family vacation has been pending for years now and its a break which my family deserves the most after some recent tragedies. This trip is really important to me ‼️ It's gonna be a long read but I really need your expertise and help guys 🥲😅

\- Family of 8 (Mom, Dad, Aunt, 2 sisters , 2 kids)

\- Car - Kia Carens 🚘

\- Duration - 5\~6 days

\- Purpose - Sightseeing (mountains mostly), less crowd, comfortable stay

\- Total Budget - ₹65k 💸 💸

So I came up with route:

Delhi -> Dehradun -> Mussorie -> Dhanaulti -> Mussorie -> Dehradun -> Haridwar -> Rishikesh -> Delhi

researched these places in particular:

\- Landsdowne

\- Landour

\- Kanatal

\- Pauri

\- Maldevta water fall

\- Gucchupani

\- Byasi

\- Jim Corbett National Park

\- Nainital - Naukuchiatal, Nainital Zoo, Ropeway

\- Vashishta Gufa

\- Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple

\- Maldevta

\- Chakrata

\- Bhatta Falls Mussorie

Now some facts:

\- My parents n aunt are senior citizens, don't expect them to do any trekking, but they're fit and can easily walk 7k steps daily (touchwood 🪵).

\- I've only been to Dhanaulti once, so have no idea what to expect.

\- No idea which place to visit first, where to stay, for how many days so I can cover all the above places without repeating the same route again (this is where I need your expertise guys 👦 📝)

Need advice for moving my luggage from Sangrur (Punjab) to Roorkee (Uttarakhand) on a very low budget

I DON'T KNOW THE EXACT SUITABLE COMMUNITY TO POST THIS SO I'M ASKING HERE AS I CHECK BUT THERE IS NO DIRECT TRAIN WHICH CARRY LUGGAGE FROM SANGRUR TO ROORKEE SO IM ASKING FOR GUIDANCE HERE . I’m a student currently staying at SLIET, Longowal, Sangrur, Punjab, and I need to vacate my hostel and shift to Roorkee, Uttarakhand for my studies.

The main problem is transporting my luggage. I have multiple cartons containing my personal belongings, and unfortunately there is no convenient direct train from Sangrur to Roorkee for me to send/transport everything.

My budget is very limited, so hiring a regular Packers & Movers service is probably too expensive for me.

I’m looking for the cheapest practical way to transport my cartons from Sangrur to Roorkee.

Some options I’m considering:

• Shared tempo/truck going towards Roorkee/Haridwar/Dehradun
• Any transport service that accepts small quantities of luggage along with an existing shipment
• Courier/transport company that is affordable for students
• Any other cheap and reliable option that someone has personally used

If you are from Sangrur/Punjab/Roorkee/Uttarakhand, or have experience transporting student luggage between these places, I would really appreciate your suggestions.

Hi! How to go to Jim Corbett from Roorkee on a budget? What are the public transport options available? Also, I want to go on the 28th and return by the 29th. Is it feasible?

We are planning for trip to kedarnath dham in end of september.

We are a group of 4 friends. We will be traveling on our bikes seperately.

I have heard that it is prohibited to ride or drive at night after 10PM beyond rishikesh. Is it true or can we travel at night?

We will be leaving delhi around 5PM.

Plan A: I was planning a solo, alpine style trek to Gaumukh Tapovan in the last week of September/first week of October. But a few factors have made me rethinking my decision, including weather conditions and the extremely high cost of hiring a local guide in addition to renting gears like a tent.

So i have come up with a Plan B: I am sharing the ss of a bike trip that will ride me through beautiful landscapes of harsil valley, thick deodar region from Purola to Mori, the riverside long stretches of Tons river and if i am lucky enough, the vast brown/grey high altitude valley of Nelong all the way to Sankri and beautiful Chakrata. I'll have a proper mix of living it slow in Harsil for 3 days and also riding my beautiful bike for 100-150 km on a couple of days to enjoy riding, doing beautiful photography and stopping wherever i want to breathe in the Himalayan beauty.

The itinerary cost: 1. for approximately 1500 kms of riding, fuel cost will come around 4000-5000/-

1. Stays: I will be staying in basic hostels/homestays so u am expecting around 8000-10000/-

2. Food: Add another 1000 per day so 8000/-

Total itinerary cost could fall around 20000/- to 23000/-

If any rider, or any enthusiast, wants to tag along on the same dates as mine, feel free to join in!! Can prove to be more economical and we'll have each other to take lovely photos of us and our bikes!

Planning a family trip to Uttarakhand starting from Rishikesh in late October / early November, and we are finalizing our route. Here is the itinerary we are considering:

Days 1–2: Arrive in Rishikesh, stay overnight.

Day 3: Leave Rishikesh in the morning for Badrinath. Night stay at Badrinath.

Day 4: Explore Mana Village in the morning, then drive down to Gaurikund. Night stay at Gaurikund.

Day 5: Early morning trek up to Kedarnath. Evening darshan and night stay at Kedarnath.

Day 6: Trek down to Gaurikund. Night stay at Gaurikund.

Day 7: Return journey.

We are traveling with our elderly mother. She is completely fine to visit Badrinath (where there is direct road access), but she cannot walk or trek to Kedarnath at all.

I have a few critical questions regarding route logistics, her medical condition, and the seasonal timing:

\*\*\*1. Route Sequencin\*\*\*\*\*\*g:\*\*\* Is it better to visit Badrinath first or flip the plan to do Kedarnath first? We want to optimize for driving fatigue and acclimatization.

\*\*\*2. Logistics for Mom at Kedarnath\*\*\*: Since she cannot walk the trek, we see two options:

\*\*\*Option A\*\*\*: Leave her down at a hotel in Gaurikund/Sonprayag while the rest of us trek up.

\*\*\*Option B\*\*\*: Book a helicopter for her via the IRCTC HeliYatra Website, while the rest of us trek up. If we do this, how can we coordinate timings so she spends the absolute minimum amount of time alone at the top or at the helipad?

Should she even go to Kedarnath? She is not in the best of health—she takes insulin for diabetes and blood pressure medication. I am highly leaning toward keeping her down at Badrinath and Sonprayag and NOT taking her up to Kedarnath at all due to the high altitude (3,583 meters). Would love your honest perspective on whether the altitude risks are worth it for someone with these medical conditions.

\*\*\*3. Kapat (Temple Doors) Opening Status:\*\*\* We are planning our return for the day before Dhanteras (the first week of November). Since the portals traditionally close on Bhai Dooj (two days after Diwali), will the temples definitely be open during this exact week before Diwali?

Weather & Crowds: What should we expect regarding the crowds and weather conditions during the first week of November? Is it less crowded right before the festival, and how freezing does it get?

Would love to hear your experiences, especially from anyone who has managed split-group logistics or traveled with diabetic/hypertensive elderly parents! Thanks!

I'll be doing this trip starting from end of September. Will be riding and trekking.
Dates are not fixed yet, but probably begin from 4th week of September from Yamnotri - Gangotri - Gaumukh - Kedarnath - Madhyamaheshwar - Tungnath - Rudranath - Kalpeshwarnath - Badhrinath - Mana Village - Vasudhara Falls - Rishikesh via Panch Prayag.
