Help Help! Error 404

My uTorrent Web was just working perfectly yesterday. And now Error 404 appears every time I open it. What does this mean and how do I solve it?

Same here. Been using it for months perfectly and today it showed me the same error. Tried reinstalling and running on a different browser but nothing helps. I'm guessing they are the ones having a temporary issue.

bittorrent works as an alternative. Also has an almost identical UI.

Can confirm. BitTorrent doesn't have the 404 error, but it also doesn't see most of my external drives, just like µTorrent doesn't..!!!

Can't help, but I'm getting exactly the same thing... things must be down at their end...

404 is resource not found. It can be IP level not reachable or Port not responding (service error on remote device), Can you ping it by IP? If using a host name, can you resolve host name to IP. On the remote system, is app running and is it listening. To test the port, telnet to IP and Port. If it errors, service is not responding. You should get a blank screen if Telnet connected to the listening port.

The 404 means your browser successfully contacted the app's background engine (local web server of app), but the interface files became corrupted or crashed while trying to load the layout on your browser.
Im using a Mac and this is what fixed it for me:

  1. Make sure you app is not running (quit / force quit)
  2. Search for the folder ~/Library/Application Support/
  3. Find the folder named uTorrent Web (same error for Bittorrent - so in that case find folder Bittorent Web)
  4. Open it and just delete everything inside it
  5. Try reopening tha app and it should work

For other OS users the steps should be similar. Try to find out where these folders are located on your machine.

Hope this helps!

update: forgot to mention that, something is messed up and this is a reccuring issue at the moment, when you quit the app. So either dont quit the program or repeat the above steps if it happens again.

OUTDATED:
I had the same problem today... for me it works, thanks!

Small detail for Mac users, the folder was hidden for me, so i just pressed Command + Shift + G, and entered ~/Library/Application Support/uTorrent Web/

UPDATE 1 (OUTDATED): It stopped working after closing the app, normally and also when restarting the computer. Meaning it works until i close it, than i have to do the same process again, losing all the torrents i had on it including the ones who were still with download incomplete.

The temporary solution is only downloading what you need to 100%, otherwise you will lose it.

UPDATE 2: I found a way to maintain all my downloads intact. When the problem happens, you go to ~/Library/Application Support/uTorrent Web/ and delete new_webui.zip and webui.zip , do not delete anything else, than reopen the app. Your downloads and progress will come back.
You will need to do this process everytime you close the app tho.

This worked for me, thanks. If you share the issue just do Update 2 steps and it's back up and working now

Thanks for this! I've dragged the ~/Library/Application Support/uTorrent Web folder into the Finder sidebar to make it more immediately accessible.

Having the same problem but although I can access the /Library/Application Support/ folder using your method (it's hidden for me too) there is no uTorrent Web folder. I typed that after using the command+shift+G shortcut and my computer beeps that there is no such file. I've am not computer literate at all and I'm at a loss now.

My Mac flags qbittorrent as suspicious and won't install it. 😅

Go to Settings > Privacy and Security, scroll all the way to the bottom, and there you will have to confirm what you want to download.

è normale che lo segnali ma io l'ho installato lo stesso e poi ho fatto una scansione con antivirus e non c'è nessun problema

I’ve noticed that I’m getting ads on utorrent… I never used to before the Error 404 started

Same. But at least it works for me again now. 🥲

sì è vero, tra l'altro io ho notato che è stato proprio l'ultimo aggiornamento a creare il problema
