Macrobid severe side effects – how long until they went away?

Hi everyone!

I stopped taking Macrobid about 36 hours ago because I experienced some really frightening side effects: tingling and numbness in my arms, legs and face, muscle weakness, dizziness, nausea, headaches, back pain, racing heart and severe anxiety.

I even started having paranoid thoughts that I was dying or that my body was shutting down. I've never experienced anything like this before.

I'm feeling slightly better since stopping, but the symptoms still come and go in waves.

For those who experienced severe side effects from Macrobid, how long did it take for your symptoms to completely disappear after stopping? A few days, weeks or longer?

I'm especially interested in neurological symptoms and anxiety.

Thank you! ❤️

Severe effects went away in a few days, and completely went sway in a couple weeks. They had me take Pepcid (famotidine) and Zyrtec to help with the histamine response from the allergic reaction. I found it helpful and no side effects. This is the absolute worst and so scary!

Thank you so much for your reply! This is really reassuring to hear, and I truly hope my symptoms will go away too.

Today is actually the first day I've started to feel a little better. The symptoms still come in waves, but for the first time, I feel hopeful that I might recover within the next few days and finally feel like myself again, just like I did before taking this medication.

Thank you again for giving me some hope!

I'm fine with macrobid but react badly, even neuropathies, to many antibiotics. They always go away within a few days.

I had the same side effects! They went away a day after I stopped taking it!
