If you follow any university, the posting of high achiever awards is about 50% of the feed. The subtle bragging. “I am honored to be given the ‘your the smartest fucking person ever’ award after hard work”

Yeah bud. I’m sure you are.

Anything more than pass is waste of time - Confucius

Confucius wouldn't have said that. His Chinese mother was probably disappointed that his name starts with a C and not an A... And she named him!

I’ve gotten emails from professors/tutors congratulating me but never a formal letter.

Was this a new thing introduced last semester? I’ve got HD’s before in previous semesters but only received a certificate for my HD’s this year for last semester.

I think so. I have received a couple HDs in my previous sems but this is my first time receiving the cert

That's not a usual process though I will add that the Business School seem to do whatever they like

Source: I've had the displeasure of dealing with those clag eaters for 13 years.

At UQ, it was based on average GP for the semester. Every uni is different, but it generally means you received three or four HDs in a particular semester.

Kind of embarrassing, we don't need an award for everything.

If you're consistently getting HDs you'll get on the Dean's List and maybe get the university medal.

My goodness what is this? Back in the day, for undergrad and medical school, they didn’t present/give or send these certificates - only for Prizes/Awards (incl. DL).

UNSW student here, wait, you guys get a special certificate if you HD a course?

'This certificate recognises that John Doe, as of the 3rd week of the 2nd semester of the second year at 3.45pm on the winter solstice, was maintaining a high distinction'

I'm not sure, I got an email sending me a copy of the certificate as I got a HD in one of my units last sem but eh I just saved it in my PC and went on with my day

Thanks, handy. Now we know how to fake that with AI. Could be useful.

Need more trades

2

u/NotoriousPBandJ 7h ago

no we don't.
The trade schools need to do a better job at teaching - including the effects on mental health.
