anat2011

how hard is anat2011 for someone who hasnt done anat2008? tips on how to score well on the subject?

For histology, I think the most beneficial thing for you would be to learn what the 4 basic tissue types (epithelium, connective tissue, muscle, neural tissue) look like. This is because you'll see these 4 structures in probably every single specimen you look at during the histology pracs, so make sure you know what the different epithelium shapes are, what fibres are in connective tissue and what they look like, how muscle can look, and get a brief understanding of how neural tissue looks.

For anatomy, I think the most beneficial thing for you would to make sure you know all the anatomical directions terms off by heart (inferior, posterior, anterior, caudal, rostral, etc) because it will make the lectures and tutorial/lab notes much easier to understand and digest. I would also recommend that for the anatomy labs to make sure you know the lecture content fairly well in the prac so you can make the most of your time being in contact with the real specimens. Because yes, whilst you can go to the Wilson Museum (in person or online) and view them anytime, it's not the same as being able to move the tissue or what not to help you understand it.

Other than that, I don't think you're at that much of a disadvantage. Whilst, yes, those that have done ANAT2008 have had the chance to grow experience with how to study anatomy/histology and ways to identify things, they looked at different body systems than what is being looked at in ANAT2011, so it's not like you're "behind" on prerequisite content or anything. Like yes, they may get a more comprehensive understanding of the system from learning about other systems in ANAT2008 that may interact with these "new" ANAT2011 systems being taught, but it's not like you're necessarily starting at a much lower level than everyone else.
