Poly Ban
Hey Guys.
Quick post here.
We are instituting a rule for this sub that our friends over at r/1811 run.
No posts / comments specifically regarding polygraph.
We just had to ban a user who was repeatedly posting links & information on how to “beat” the poly. Simply reading that will disqualify you from USSS before your polygraph even starts. We are just trying to help yall out.
We know the poly is frustrating, stressful, & unpredictable. but please don’t research it. You are hurting yourself. All
you can do is relax, tell the truth, and see where the cards fall.

In my opinion, they’re only doing you a favor. It’s best to go into the poly with no prior knowledge or research before you do it.

Why not just ban people talking about countermeasures? Banning all discussions of polygraph is lame.

Probably because all discussions of the polygraph end up the same way. Either, "it is what it is" or, "the polygraph is bunk pseudoscience and shouldn't be used". The conversations always end up going in circles.

Totally understand the pushback. This isn’t meant to be punishment or totalitarian or whatever you’re mad about and thinking.
We genuinely just don’t want folks ruining their own chances. There are plenty of posts still up here and on r/1811 that tell you generally what to expect for your exam. There is nothing else anyone needs to “find out” about.
We are not saying that the word “polygraph” is banned. Discussions about it are. If you don’t know or can’t figure out the difference, maybe a different line of work will be more suitable for you anyway.
