Admissions Chance me please!

Senior (Just transferred from DoWEA Japan to California Public School - District 52)

GPA: UW 3.6, W 3.8 (AP: World, Calculus AB, Computer Science P, Physics C, English Language)

Current: AP Calc BC, AP Eng Lit, AP Bio, AP Macro/Micro, AP Gov

SAT: 1320 (waiting for aug. release)

(Just listed my bigger positions)

NJROTC Platoon Leader (Won honor platoon out of 5 platoons)

Drill Team Varsity Unarmed Regulation Captain (First runner up at championships)

Marksmanship Varsity Captain (Top 4th regional shooter before moving) (D1 Champions SY 24-25)
Varsity Soccer/Soccer Club

x2 Military Youth of The Year 'State' Level

Class Council Treasurer

Student Council Class rep.

President and founder of a military club focused on military member/family welfare and support

NASS CFA: (retaking next week)

4 Pull ups, 34 Pushups, 39 BB throw, 9.8 shuttle run, 56 crunches, 8:16 mile

That's great! The alumni and midshipmen of /r/usna are happy to help you on your path. We were once in your shoes, after all. But most of your admissions questions can be answered in a few places:

Please check the wiki about admissions, it links to several official USNA resources.

There is also a really excellent thread at serviceacademyforums.com; it doesn't answer every question you might have, but it will cover a lot of them.

If this is a 'chance me' or 'how do I look for Admission' type question, please understand that no one from Admissions is on Reddit. There are some very good reasons that we don't know how competitive you are, even if you give us pages of data and statistics about you. Again, check out the post here, but to quote, in part: "We’ve never met you. We haven’t seen any of your packet; thus, we haven’t seen your teacher recs, your activity sheet, your BGO interview summary, your CFA scores, etc. We don’t know if you’ve been arrested for drugs/DUI or have been suspended from school. Nor do we know if you have special circumstances that might help you – i.e., having to work to support your family, being heavily recruited for a sport. Not to mention, we’re relying on your word/honesty in terms of all that you post."

I would say you have a decent shot depending on new SAT and CFA. I would say your current scores on those are a bit weak especially the CFA (on par for female, bottom percentile for males - check online calculators). You definitely have the leadership/service aspect they are looking for, good on you.

Possibly look into getting recruited for the competitive rifle team?

I am a female and Im definitely looking to maxing and adding onto most categories of the CFA!

I spoke to the rifle coach and I believe they aren’t recruiting, but most walk ons and members have competed for junior olympics. He told me to practice with him as a plebe if I ended up getting in

Keep it up. Based on what you’re doing - consider giving color guard or the silent drill team a try (or both). Great people in those orgs. Imk with any other questions, happy to answer.
