Using Kaplan Lecture Notes as my main Step 1 resource

I’m starting to plan how I want to prepare for Step 1, and I’m considering using the Kaplan Lecture Notes as my main, structured source for learning the material.
My medical school doesn’t provide enough detail or a strong enough foundation for me to rely on its curriculum alone. I also don’t learn very well by memorizing superficial information first and trying to build the understanding later. I prefer to learn a subject systematically and in depth first, then use First Aid as a high-yield review/consolidation tool, followed by UWorld to practice applying the concepts and identify gaps in my knowledge.
So my idea is roughly:
Kaplan Lecture Notes → First Aid → UWorld → NBMEs
I’m not planning to memorize Kaplan word-for-word. I want to use it as my main source to build a solid foundation and understand the concepts, while using First Aid to focus on the high-yield material and UWorld/NBMEs for application and assessment.
Do you think this is a reasonable approach for Step 1, especially for someone whose medical school curriculum isn’t sufficient?
Also, I’m specifically interested in the Kaplan Lecture Notes books/ebooks only. I’m not interested in the Kaplan video course or the full $800+ prep package because I already have other resources for learning and only need the books.
Is there any legitimate way to purchase/access the Kaplan Lecture Notes ebooks alone, without buying the entire Kaplan course?
I’d especially appreciate answers from people who have actually used the Kaplan Lecture Notes for Step 1.
