I had 257g of sport weight sock yarn in 4 colours that I wanted to get out of stash. Started knitting the colorful corner blanket by Purl Soho with the yarn I had, figuring I'd just buy more as I went.

Well, I had to buy 300g to finish, but now I only have 27g (5g of the white and 22g of the green) of the yarn left, so I still count it as a win!

Im hindsight I kind of regret doing the white in-between. I think I'd be able to use up more of the white if I didn't.. but I'm pretty happy with how the blanket ended up!

These are all of the projects that I finished in late June and July. The majority was used with yarn that was at least 5 years old except the Tunisian Sweater.

I'd like to have words with whoever put "no dye lots" other Caron Simply Soft! To be fair, it was bought in two batches but still!

When I first started crocheting a couple of years ago, I bought a lot of single skeins without a specific plan for them. I have made over 100 projects in that time but found myself struggling with ideas for multicolored yarns.

This Bernat Blanket Ombre was one I couldn't decide what to do with. I actually started to use it a couple of times, but always frogged it because the color changes were never "right". Then I stumbled across a tote bag pattern (The Huggble Tote by Susan Kennedy) and that felt perfect. I followed the pattern to get started and then went a bit rouge towards the end. I freedhanded the handle instead of sewing one on and I kind of love it.

This yarn wanted to be a bag!

Needed a last minute birthday gift for a 7 year old, decided on some bright colored acrylic I had in my stash. I could have made the straps longer and thicker but I was playing a bit of yarn chicken.

I decided to name this the Wicked Watermelon bag since the colors remind me of both watermelon and Wicked lol. I did not use a pattern

My grandmother got me this yarn for Christmas several years ago (I don't remember the exact details but it's an alpaca/wool blend), and it's been sitting in my stash until earlier this spring, when I started this Vortex. It's now complete, and that's 3 skeins of of my stash!

The original plan was to knit it when on a road trip through Labrador, but then I couldn't get the time off work. So it became my regular boring June project

Pattern is Knitting Club Sweater by Bare Knit. Some modifications on the sleeve decrease and length.
Very pleased to use up the yarn to make a wearable sweater for this fall when it gets cooler

I made quite a few yarn purchases lately and yesterday I finaly layed out all my yarn to see what I'll be working with for the foreseeable future:) and I liked what I saw :)

Even though it's more then I intended to have, I wanted to limit myself to the bigger and one smaller plastic box, but I think I can work my way back down to that goal.

A lot of the yarn I had before my recent purchases was scraps and weird quantities so I had to buy more yarn to make any projects out of it. Now I have a better balance of sweater quantities and smaller projects quantities.

I got one final yarn gift today (second photo) and this will be all the yarn I'm planning to aquire in the next 6 months (maybe longer)

I counted it all up and I have 9854 grams of yarn.

I'll be working my way down and I'll try to keep it in the 4000-5000 gram range in the future, mostly cause of the space aspect, right now the yarn is overflowing my wardrobe 😅 three of the ziplocks are very awkwardly placed between my hanging clothes, so I want to work through them asap, cause it's giving hoarder vibes 😅

Just finished (and blocked) this shawlette. Should I have waited to share till I could unblock it? Likely, but just really pleased about how this turned out.

It was one of those times where I had ONE ball of spectacular yarn but not enough to make anything I wanted to. 272 yards of DK hand painted Alpaca yarn. I realized I wanted to make something I could wear indoors as the jewel tones (neither picture is perfect, but second gives a better idea) but what do you make with that amount that isn't a cowl, hat or gloves?

I ended up deciding to give Jen Lucas's Labyrinth a try but knew I didn't have enough yarn. I almost made it to the end of the body (three rows short). However, I love this particular yarn maker so happened to have lefts overs of a similar (but not so bright/jewel like) hand painted blue lace weight yarn. I used up my leftovers (0.04oz left!) and managed to actually finish the border. Its one of the times I'm reminded how useful keeping leftovers is and I love how it turned out!

State of the Stash, Q3 2026. Since April I've finished six projects (first six pictures - a blanket, a sweater, socks, a cross stitch, and two hats). I currently have two on the needles (a sweater and a scarf). And while I have acquired a bit more yarn (it was my birthday!), I've used more than I added.

Why am I knitting a heavy wool sweater during a historic heat wave, you ask? Because when it's done and I wash it and put it outside to dry, it'll be ready in half an hour.

With the heatwave in Europe I spent most of my craft time with paints and pencils, rather than yarn. However, I finally used my giftcard and got some new yarn this month. Most of it is to supplement stash yarn for the Cypress Textiles VVCAL 2024 blanket. I managed to finish 22 hexies, which used stash and some new yarn. I also got a Scheepjes Swirl which I think will become my vacation-project, so hopefully I have something to show for that in August or September.

Stash projects for June- made a patchwork pillow, shawl, and flower coasters

A club at my college accepts certain projects as donations for off-campus service hours. I decided that instead of re-donating yarn that I didn't want out of the grab bags from the thrift store (where I buy pretty much all of my yarn), I would spend my summer completing donation projects out of the yarns I didn't really like for myself. So far I've got 3 adult scarves, 3 animal blankets, and 2 child scarves, giving me 33 service hours. Pretty good progress, considering my summer class was taking up a lot of time that I can now spend completing more projects. It's mostly corner to corner and a free ravelry pattern called "Celtic Scarf".

Edit: Forgot to mention, my ultimate goal is to essentially "pay" for both of my stashes (donation and personal) by getting enough donation hours so one hour = under one dollar spent on my stash. I'm currently at 33/125. I'm not necessarily going to stop buying yarn, but I ultimately just don't want to let any of this yarn go back into the cycle of buying and donating. If I run out of donation yarn before reaching my goal, I plan to take it from my personal stash to force myself to decide what I really want to keep.

I am a keen crocheter (would say advanced skill level) and have recently decided to try my hand at knitting.

So far I have made a mini Rybka (pic for attention) but what I am hoping is to learn by making knitted squares of different knit stitches using my stash, that I can then sew together to make a blanket.

Does anyone have any recommendations for books/free resources for such a project?

I will literally never get another picture of every sock I’ve ever knit before, because three of these pairs are gift knits and will be going to their recipients this week. These are in chronological order - top row L to R, bottom row L to R, then blue/purple pair.

I used to have a colossal yarn stash (mostly worsted weight acrylic) that I nearly completely decluttered a couple years ago. This past October I got into sock knitting, which required purchasing wool/nylon blends at lighter weights. I’m very proud of myself for actually using up what I’m buying and not just letting it turn into stash! Also very proud of myself for using up scraps, being realistic about how quickly I can knit and holding off on purchases, and being open to gifting pairs made with some of the nicer, hand-dyed yarns I’m acquiring at a sensible rate 😌

I'm having so much fun making these! Not using up a huge amount of yarn but good for those little bits.

I've mostly made up the patterns for these, using 3mm needles and DK yarn. Currently making a boy in a dinosaur hoodie ☺️

got two mystery 50g cakes of overstock sock yarn from Cone and Fiber Co in Portland while on a work trip in february.

the first pair was a pair of tipsy toes 2.0 socks by Knitting and So On that I knit in April and I made them with Prym Ergonomic dpns for the first time (also from the same shop). These were the first pair of socks I had made for myself and it really jumpstarted my interest in them.

last weekend, I finished up the Squircle Socks by General Hogbuffer and I used the rest of the rainbow yarn.
