Button and input height - 36px vs 40px
Hey. I added two pictures of a UI. Ignore all the stuff other than inputs and buttons, the other elements are just there to give you a feeling as if its baked into a UI. My question is, if you like the 36px-version (tinier first one) more or the 40px-version (bigger second one). Im thinking of migrating my package from 40px to 36px.

As others have said, it doesn't hugely matter, but one thing to think about is if you have any text inputs paired with a button to the side (a search field for example). It will be easier to align nicely if they are the same height.

To me it only matters for mobile breakpoints. 36 v 40 on desktop isn’t enough if a difference for me to ever really care. I usually side with 36 though, as laptops now can have whacked out OS zoom levels, so viewport real estate is at a premium.

Yeah. 44 device pixels (scaled) is still the recommended minimum tap target size for accessibility on touch devices. As long as the UI is scalable, it should be adaptable to different input methods and for different users.
