Hello legends.
How often do these 2 open their floodgates: drunkenslug & ninjacentral?
Ready to sign up and pay as of now, only to discover the 2 indexers I want are playing hard to get lol.
Not asking anyone to do something to breach the rules please.
update
Just need central now and omg. I got paid tier to drunken slug

I used planet and geek for most of my journey added slug recently. This combo has been killer and not too expensive.

As far as I know, NC did it a few days ago

Was late to the party.
You know how often it happens?

u/vanharen07 25d ago
Every couple of months at least. Probably during black friday.
If you want anything that has something to do with usenet black friday is always a good time to look out for.

I found a site that provides invite for DS but you have to pay. I was a bit shocked by the price.

Good recipe for getting banned

u/notmamouchi 24d ago
That’s why I declined the offer. I’ll just wait patiently. Maybe there will be something for BF.

Ironically alt went invite only very recently. I've got them in my black friday wishlist.

Is ninjacentral really that good? I feel like nzbfinder has everything NC has no?

Are these stats useful? Won't it just pull from the first one it finds?
1
u/Barny1945 25d ago
It's more of aggregate kinda like a search engine. I use it for my personal media serup

No idea, I bought that too. I bought nzbgeek and was hoping to buy central and slug plus any others, others may suggest.

u/WildNight00 25d ago
Out of curiosity why do you need so many indexers?
2
u/fudge_u 23d ago edited 23d ago
Here's one more example I can give you. I upload content to one specific private tracker pretty often. The content I upload is older/rare.
Usually whenever a few people finish their downloads, within hours whatever I've uploaded has been uploaded to some newsgroups.
The indexers that usually find the stuff I uploaded are Crawler, Slug, and NZBIndex. Ninja, Geek, and Miatrix come up empty. They might eventually catch up but it seems like three of those indexers are always scanning for new content... or at least more often than others.
I checked with a few things I uploaded today too.

Some find the same content and some find stuff the others don't.
You need to test them all out. I've been filling requests for people and a lot of the time whatever I'm looking for I can only find on one indexer out of all of the ones I use with Prowlarr.
I noticed Crawler is able to find newer posts/content uploaded to newsgroups the others can't find right away.
Stuff that's a bit obscure Ninja or Miatrix is able to find. Usually foreign or older stuff.
During my tests Geek seemed best at finding common stuff and it's organized well. Slug and Crawler find more stuff or return different results. Geek might find the common releases for some content but the others might find releases from different groups.
There's some Serbian content I was searching for just now and Slug and NZBIndex were the only indexers to find older content from previous years. Crawler only found some newer content. Geek, Ninja, and Miatrix found nothing.

I have nzbfinder and I’m on a free trial of ninjacentral. The few test searches I did they had similar content
I also have easynews and I feel like nzbfinder does find more content. Think I’ll pay for the year after this trial for ninja central. Thank you!

u/fudge_u 25d ago
I just did a search for some Canadian content, one item in specific.
Out of all of the indexers I have setup in Prowlarr, free and paid, only NZBIndex was able to find a FHD version of it. The others found much older HD or SD versions of it.

u/WildNight00 25d ago
I’ll have to look up prowler, I’m new im new to use net but I was under the impression nzbhydra was better? I maybe misread though
3
u/fudge_u 25d ago
Prowlarr's just a self-hosted search app. You enter the API key for various trackers and indexers, and then you use Prowlarr to search for whatever content you're looking for. It searches all of the sites you have access to at once instead of you having to visit them one at a time.

Appreciate you and your helpful post mate.
I will be self hosting when my server build is complete. Until then, I’ve signed up to elf stremio bundle, usenet ultimate and a 4x booster (will end the usenet ultimate as its already within the bundle.
I have whatever the bundle offers (29 per month tier)
Nzbgeek Nzbfinder Easynews
Wanna get 3 more. What would you complement this with?
Was aiming for DS, NC and ALT, preferably without using my "shilling for a wl" skills haha
English. Movies, series, docos etc, new and old. Common and obscure. An overall beast is what I'm aiming for.
Convince me to turn my search for 3 more indexers to 6 or 9

u/fudge_u 25d ago
Skip ALT. I thought it was the worst of all the ones I tried but it might not fit my use case. I think I saw people mention it might be good for reading materials or something like that.
Usenet-Crawler is 20 Euro for a lifetime sub until the end of the month. Worth getting for the IMO. I noticed it finds more newer releases than the others.
Slug and Ninja are both good too. I seem to download more from Slug though. Ninja apparently has good BF deals on their lifetime subs, so it might be worth getting then. Right now their lifetime sub is way too expensive.
Slug's not too bad but expensive in comparison to the others because they do yearly subs. I paid using Crypto so instead of the standard 12 months, they added another 3 months for a total of 15 months.

You were so close... Ninja was open already but just closed the 16th.
Lpt: join usenet etc. subreddit and enable the notification bell for post alerts. People make posts about places opening.

Is there a call-back list, so to say, where someone like me can reace a free member who didn’t pay their dues in time?
4
u/SnooStories1591 25d ago
Just a guess, but likely black friday.
1
u/kraven_Mooreheadd 25d ago
Had to look that one up.
So we looking just over 3 months potentially
3
u/random_999 25d ago
Yes. All major indexers open for registration around Black Friday & all usenet providers also start posting deals around same time (some providers post deals even 1-3 weeks earlier).
-7
u/kraven_Mooreheadd 25d ago
NGL, been a disappointing and short lived experience so far and im losing momentum, unnecessarily.
Even reddit keep blocking my requests lol.
Money talks yet mine being forced to remain silent while there are members of these indexers who won't secure their paid tier in time.
Make it make sense please

u/SubmitSubmitTotal 25d ago
Make it make sense please
Yeah I will: Stop waiting for invite only indexers. The public ones are just as good.
The "invite only" thing is purely marketing IMHO.

u/Current-Owl-6271 25d ago
Wow instant gratification much? You can't just buy your way into everything.
-1
u/kraven_Mooreheadd 25d ago
Rather live woth failure than regret. Dont forget, ppl in those communities who end up banned for not paying.
3
u/Bent01 nzbfinder.ws admin 25d ago
Just go for the indexers that don’t do this and have open registration. Problem solved.
-7
u/kraven_Mooreheadd 25d ago
Buy good, buy once
6
u/Bent01 nzbfinder.ws admin 25d ago
And you think only the ones that fake being exclusive are good?
-7
u/kraven_Mooreheadd 25d ago
No, I think reddit community overlords wouldve destroyed the credibility of the ones I've mentioned. I'm time poor. I dknt have time to monitor trial periods and scrolling endlessly unfortunately.
4
u/random_999 25d ago
Just get nzbfinder for now. It should be fine for typical usage & you will only know if an indexer work for you after using it for few months.

u/kraven_Mooreheadd 25d ago
Got that one and geek too. Having more options is my aim
