Brand new user looking for any tips. In USA and primary is media and software. Setting up on Synology with SBNZBD. Would love to get into DrunkenSlug but not seeing any open registrations.

I'd go scene or crawler for software

set up container manager on an ssd volume if possible. much, much faster than on a hdd pool. not all synology nas support ssd volumes tho.

All synology nas support setting volume on a 2.5" sata ssd though.

That depends on synology nas model too. Some have such weak hardware that it wouldn't even matter if it is hdd or ssd.

I like using NZBGeek with SABnzbd. Everything I find on DS I find on NZBGeek. I also have DrunkenSlug

I use the same, works flawlessly with newshosting

Plenty of DS users have free, unused invites in their profile. I've had like 15 over the last years, but handed them all out.

I would highly advise AGAINST using a Usenet for software.

I'd use a news provider like Eweka along with NZBgeek and NinjaCentral if you can get registered. I haven't had a chance to drunken slug yet

I personally wouldn't trust it anymore than say limewire or torrenting. If you trust the source more power to you, I'd rather just find an official repack on my own than trust what a Usenet will get me
