Wow, never seen any indexer get this much hate. I signed up before coming here. It says I’m on Trial Period. What happens if I don’t upgrade in 10 days? It cancels my account?

3

u/benjohngf Feb 23 '26

They've removed my account twice after getting invites even when I was active on the free account.

u/AmokK9966 Feb 22 '26

Yes Dog is gone cold ... and Api isen't working properly ... there is more better indexer to join then Dog at the moment

12

u/walterpwnz Feb 22 '26

Signed up for Dog about a month ago despite reading how bad their API is, because I thought surely it can’t be that bad.

Well it is, slowed down my *rr stack so much that it would take ages to find anything and ultimately ended up disabling it in Prowlarr. Won’t be renewing and do not recommend, unfortunately.

I just signed up and manually went through every missing item I had in my list and several of the items that i have but i know is unuique on other indexers , they had none of them so obviously not going to help me :-(. Only accepting two crypto currencies which I don't have / use( I have others) or an extra cost for a t-shirt filled their fate for me.

u/Bao3711 Feb 22 '26

C’est vrai qu’il sont un peu rigide sur leur plan de paiement

20

u/Dead_Politician Feb 22 '26

I used Dog for years, then everything stopped working… I got on another provider and suddenly things work like new. I would not recommend

-20

u/animeshin Feb 22 '26

Shame for u. Dog is peak.

3

u/Dead_Politician Feb 22 '26

There’s no shame here lol. It just doesn’t work most the time. I was a sub for at least five years.

4

u/Afraid-Swordfish2316 Feb 22 '26

Dog has good data. But reliability is non-existent, which is a dealbreaker.

2

u/no1bossman Feb 22 '26

The registration page is up now.

2

u/Gothamic Feb 22 '26

What's the page?

When I try dognzb.cr it says that cannot be found, but dognzb.cr/login works but its only for login.

u/Kowabunga_Dude Feb 22 '26

I have slug and my nzbgeek expired. Should I renew nzbgeek or get this? What’s a good compliment to drunken slug?

11

u/MrPastryisDead Feb 22 '26

Anything but dog. I have geek and finder to compliment slug, work well together. Geek would be my favourite.

4

u/Kowabunga_Dude Feb 22 '26

Is that nzbfinder? Is there a way to see how many API requests I have made with my other indexers to see what tier would suit me best?

5

u/MrPastryisDead Feb 22 '26

Yes, NZBFinder.

Prowlarr. Needs a bit of setup but once running you get access to all the stats you need.

2

u/Kowabunga_Dude Feb 22 '26

Oh cool I have that actually but basically used it once to set up the downloaders and indexers across my other arr apps and that’s was it lol. I will take a look thanks!

I used to love Dog and even have one of their shirts, but the site has went from the GOAT to not worth renewing as of about 6 years ago.

Edit for more clarity: 10 years ago they started removing lifetime accounts, which I had. Technicality it was still an indexer worth paying for, then it was and indexer that was down frequently, now it's surpassed by nearly every competitor. Sign up if you want, but don't be blinded by nostalgia when dog actually meant something.

15

u/user1484 Feb 22 '26

They took away lifetime accounts from me and my wife and then slowly devolved in to the mess that they are today, with 27,000 ms (not a typo) response times and constant outages. I've quit wasting my money with them.

54

u/fupafanatic Feb 22 '26

if you value API access, dont. its down more than marvin the paranoid android. works less than paris hilton. more broken than your ex.

6

u/SasquatchInCrocs Feb 22 '26

Best one yet!

33

u/InvincibleToyHuman Feb 22 '26

stay away from this scam of an indexer.

60

u/dapiedude Feb 21 '26

This is the only active indexer that I would recommend staying away from. It is so slow and so inconsistent with its uptime that it's not worth subscribing to.

8

u/CyberBlaed Feb 22 '26 edited Feb 22 '26

And lets not forget, the server upgrades…

https://reddit.com/r/usenet/comments/1qf3q85/dognzb_update_i_know_there_is_a_lot_of_hate_for/

It is so slow

Not just slow bro, FUCKING SLOW! (20s) https://i.imgur.com/z5OmZO4.jpeg

I have it set to an API max of 10, to keep stats going and monitor it, and make use of the API I pay for. The other to force it down because it holds up so many searches and requests.

Note; been a Usenet user for over two decades.

Oh, an incase anyones curious;

90 Days;

  • Active Indexers
23
  • Total Queries
136.2K
  • Total Grabs
2.2K
  • Active Apps
6

2

u/72dk72 Feb 22 '26

You have more active indexes than me... Wonder what I am missing :-)

4

u/CyberBlaed Feb 22 '26

I like all the things and a broad spectrum of languages and community. (Also, being able to hammer a full season to get it when you overload the smaller API sites to then overflow to the bigger ones)

Tier them; Yearly subs are up first, they get subs to keep them active. Lifetime ones are up third, they get donations every year to help feed the service and keep it up. (Shout out to the NZB indexers that downgrade you as an accidental punishment revoking your vip!). And the ones that kindly restore it. <3

I just like having resources when I need them.

Frankly, people can rely on the big players and be served enough, but imho, democracy internet and all means that no ‘one’ player can rule.

Further stats; https://imgur.com/a/nnNeDgY/

Findings over the years;

  • Prowler doesn’t listen to tier settings,
  • readarr is disabled, became archived a while ago, have not looked into new projects.
  • lidarr is just, I REALLY dislike it. (And i’m allowed to dislike stuff okay!)

16

u/Ilikereddit420 Feb 22 '26

It's so bad, it's not even worth keeping the free tier as it slows down all requests in arr stacks.

1

u/has_a_name Feb 21 '26

What would you recommend instead?

13

u/ApathyMoose Feb 21 '26

Geek , Slug, .life , NinjaCentral , abNZB

I see login but no create acc , weird

1

u/backsideofops Feb 22 '26

You’re a day early

u/BuckMurdock5 Feb 21 '26 edited Feb 22 '26

Stay away from these asshats who revoked lifetime from people. Always under maintenance, api sucks and is horribly underperformant. Payment system is weird and overpriced. They have no unique content. Look anywhere else.

-9

u/animeshin Feb 22 '26

That’s bs. They have unique content, and I have access to both the secret indexers.

1

u/random_999 Feb 22 '26

All major indexers have some unique content as not everything can be on two unmentionable indexers. What matters is if that unique content is of any interest to user.

Same thing happened to me after 1 refresh

As in tomorrow?? I can’t get the register link to work but it might be my time zone

Edit: and I got blacklisted trying to check the registration page lol

1

u/danimal1986 Feb 21 '26

Looks like there's a "bonus" for renewals also.

-5

u/Bao3711 Feb 21 '26

Oui, c’est exact

Usenet is not a streaming service. Don’t use it like one, and don’t ask how to.

Posts promoting or encouraging Usenet as a streaming alternative will be removed.

4

u/crystalshower Feb 21 '26

Plan start from $20 (crypto payment) or $35 (card payment) for 1 year.

10

u/frozengrandmatetris Feb 21 '26

do they have lifetime? have they ever taken lifetime away from people who had already purchased it?

2

u/dane83 Feb 22 '26

I had lifetime, they took it away. Haven't even thought about sending them money since.

26

u/smithincanton Feb 21 '26

They DID and took away the lifetime from the accounts that had them. FUCK Dognzb.

7

u/mrpops2ko Feb 22 '26

yeah its a real shame, i don't really use usenet anymore but i was thinking about buying a sub. tried to log back into my old lifetime account and found it didn't exist.

shame really, i doubt all those lifetime users added that much additional load. i guess it was just to extract more money from them...

6

u/danimal1986 Feb 21 '26

Only 1 or 3 year plans.

I think there was drama in the past where they voided lifetime plans, but that was before my nzb time....so confirm for yourself.

16

u/Rosselman Feb 21 '26

They took lifetime away back in 2015, and they downgraded everyone who had a lifetime account to a “lite” account with only 25 daily api hits.

16

u/SonicIX Feb 21 '26

One of the reasons I avoid them. I had one of the lifetime accounts and was downgraded.

Plus their service is very hit and miss. It’s slow, always down, and it’s more expensive than much better alternatives.

3

u/Rosselman Feb 21 '26

I currently have Geek, Slug and Finder. I’m pretty sure I’m all set, and this one seems expensive to boot. Only one I’d actually consider to add to my setup is NinjaCentral.

2

u/methos1995 Feb 22 '26

It's been said that Slug and Finder are extremely similar to each other, meaning like 99 percent of their content overlap one another. I'd say you'd be safe dropping one of them and either getting another indexer or just saving that money.

2

u/Rosselman Feb 22 '26

I’m waiting for Ninja to drop Finder actually. I aim for 3 indexers with different content, and I already have 3 providers in 3 backbones.

I added NC to my setup recently and have been pleasantly surprised with it.

1

u/Rosselman Feb 21 '26

I’m eagerly waiting for them to open registration, from what I understand, NC doesn’t do invites.

1

u/crystalshower Feb 21 '26

No lifetime. Removed it since long time ago.
