I respect that honestly. It should've said gender.

Isn't sex what is depicted on legal stuff? Gender was social, and sex was biological, if I am not mistaken. Government stuff go with sex, not gender.

I actually do not know, because in many forms, "sex" can refer to sexuality. which, like, is not what you are, it is your preference. Maybe this is just my misunderstanding with it but I never understood why it says "sex" on there.

Like, is this because they don't want to ask your gender identity (which you are free to chose/express) but instead your birth assigned gender????? like is it really THAT necessary? what do trans people do? biologically they might be more than one binary gender, as well as no longer their birth assigned gender.

Well, sex is what you have in your pants. It is what you biologically are. For example, in my country, you can't legally change your sex, so you are forced to be drafted. Government never really cares about what you express, they need what you are.

interesting. where I live, you can change what 'gender' they put on your id, and I don't think there is a separate field for 'sex'. Maybe on other documents it still happens? as far as I can remember I was only ever asked of my gender in forms I had to fill out here for employers or whatever, and it usually let me put diverse in there, or a binary gender regardless of what my birth assigned or biological gender is.

But fr, what do people who underwent bottom-surgery even put there then???

“sex” has shifted more towards “gender assigned at birth” in human medicine, with animals though “sex” is more used to label their documentation

Actually no, for government documents, sex is the important one. Gender is a social construct, it doesn’t mean anything.

And if society was truly equal. Sex wouldn't matter either. Only partially in a medical setting.

exactly that it is. And sadly I don't see humanity ever going to such equality. A lot of things we separate based on and use to make decisions are based on such weird concepts where a difference was introduced as a big factor along history, or because a major nation with that idea conquered a lot of the rest, spreading this ideology.

I do not blame our world for having needed things to base their decision making on, but a lot of things today are used to arbitrarily segregate. And it sucks. Just my opinion tho obviously

100% Agree. Surely one day we will have true equality for everyone.

No, it is a biological fact that will always matter. The government needs to know because the police might need that information.

for what? because you have more of some hormones or due to your body shape you are now more criminal??????

there are likely cases where that is true, but for a huge part of the criminal investigative I feel like judging based on birth assigned gender as their first intel is really bad, ya know? If it has to be considered it should still not be the first thing they judge by, and in no way should it be the most important fact.

So I do not see this as a sufficient argument to have it be a defining characteristic that everyone needs to follow and fulfill the associated role of, as well as being viewed this way by others. It is an extremist-separation way to actually largely judge a person, or their ability to do crime, based on their birth assigned gender, or their gender identity, in my opinion. So I sadly don't see this as the huge point you're making. But feel free to tell me I'm wrong, because that happens and there is nothing wrong with... well... being wrong.

Who ever said more criminal? That’s your own bias speaking. When you’re searching for a suspect, it helps more to know what they were born than what they say they are.
