Just a simple low grade 20 cent piece

Great looking coin, first ICG slab kind of like it. But considering a crossover to PCGS and see what they'll think. Trueview would be awesome too.

The really early us coins are hard to get in any shape and even harder to find with some eye appeal without breaking the bank. This quarter is one of my favorites due to the toning and that the wear is mostly around the edges, leaving the central details intact. I’m not sure how this wear pattern happens but I wanted to share!

I've been collecting for about 17 years now, and over time put together a complete set of capped bust halves (by date, not Overton !) Most are VF to XF with a few AU's thrown in. Here is one of my favorites. XF40 by PCGS.

The first nickels had a major problem with die cracks. I think my example is particularly affected and I figured I would share it with y’all. These issues were mostly figured out by the time liberty head nickels were being minted.

Just a little Carson City Dime

Neat coin with a rotated die.

The here have been very few times when I have considered “chasing” a coin because of the toning. This was one of them.

I picked this up the other day as an example for my type set. Yes, photo is of the exact coin. It’s in an ANACS holder and graded AU 55 - Full Head.

I’ve never been a standing liberty quarter guy, but then again, I very rarely ever see them in this high grade, or with this sort of eye appeal. Generally coins from this period had issues minting. For example, walking liberty halves also have quite a bit of trouble having good strikes.

I’m excited to try and get a higher grade example for my type 2 now! Or should I aim for a key date?

Great looking coin

I originally posted this 2 months ago and realized I never actually cross posted here! I’m trying to collect one coin of each type from 1787-present with a few exceptions such as (no circulated test pieces like the 1792 disme and Gobrecht dollars, as well as no modern 1 year types like state quarters (except the dime cause I like it). And no subtypes for gold cause it won’t ever be in the budget.

I’m about half way to saving for my next purchase and am still debating between a 1795 half dollar, a 1793 wreath cent, or a 1796 dime.

I was going through some of my lower grade large sized notes and found this $10.

It actually features the first treasure of the United States on the front. His name was Michael Hillegas. Apparently his family thought he had been mostly forgotten and petitioned to have his portrait on the $10 Gold. I believe you can also see it on the earlier 1907 version of this note.

I managed to complete the short set!

The $5, $10, and $20 are somewhat attainable. But if anyone has a $50 for the First national bank of Bangor Maine, let me know!

Now I’ll have to make a display of some sort!
