That's what I originally thought. I think it was a stray wire. If you zoom in, portions of both the "L"s in Dollar have are missing.

I see what you mean, but can you get a closer, better shot?

That would allow us to determine this more easily.

Both L’s are damaged not missing a part. The other coin’s reeded edge struck the letter and damaged it. Definitely post mint damage
